Chapter 29
Lilian was confused.
She only told Evelyn to release her how did she connect that to the marquise?
Also, she was bullying the marquise? She would never dare!
Hell, she would thank the heavens if the marquis household would stop hurting her for one second
Lilian had to take a deep breath and grip her own wrist firmly right then, just to resist the Impulse of slapping Evelyn across the face.
However, Winter snapped right then, “Well, arent you a sick little brat, milady?”
Her unrestrained outburst left Evelyn stunned. “What…”
She was too shocked, and that was the only word she managed.
Lilian was shocked too, not expecting such bravery from Winter!
The mald could really get forgetful–she had made it clear that she could not protect her!
Still, before Lilian could defend Winter, Winter strode up, smiling at Evelyn as she continued, You were still coughing a couple of days ago, weren’t you?”
Seeing that Winter’s childlike visage was earnest, Evelyn was suddenly unsure if it was sheer contempt or actual concern.
Still, she blinked innocently at the maid. “M–Mother got medicine for me from the palace. I’m feeling better now.”
“Oh, you have a prescription?”
Completely ignoring the last part, Winter kept smiling as she went up to Evelyn, holding her arm as if helping her walk. “You have to stick to it–you haven’t taken your meds today, have you? It’s late now, so let’s get going.”
Though Winter almost appeared to be an escort, she was clearly half–dragging Evelyn out of the pavilion.
Through it all, Evelyn kept turning her head as if to tell Lilian something, but Winter stopped
her.
In fact, even after Winter had escorted Evelyn out of Floret Garden, Evelyn was still unsure if Winter had really just insulted her.
On the other hand, Lilian watched as Winter returned and could not help chiding her softly, Bold, aren’t you? Aren’t you worried that Mr. Lestrade will flog you when she complains to him?!”

Chapter 29
“Hahaha!” Winter burst out laughing. “At least stop smiling if you’re going to lecture me, milady!”
Lilian could not resist laughing out loud too, shaking her head. “Oh, you!”
Winter moved closer, saying under her breath, “I know. Your position in the marquis‘ household is precarious and some words must never be mentioned, let alone insults! But don’t worry I’ll do it for you since you can’t. Just give me a look, and I’ll show them!”
One must admit that Winter was quite smart–even if Evelyn really told Rupert, he would not have enough evidence to punish her.
Moreover, she used to work for him.
Despite nodding in relief, Lilian told her, “It had better not happen again.”
She had no idea if Winter would go too far next time, and it would be bad if she did.
Winter nodded, but soon tilted her head in thought. “Milady, are you going to Felton Shrine?”
Considering what Evelyn said, there was no way Lilian would be nice enough to have her along on the trip.
Still, she nodded after some thought. “I want to get Grandmother a lucky charm. Get ready- we’ll go there on our own.”
“Yes, milady.” Winter nodded and left, quickly preparing everything before summoning a carriage.
As they headed outside the city to Felton Shrine, they could see many carriages along the way
too.
