As night fell, the club gradually grew lively. The flashing neon lights and boisterous
tmosphere were in full swing
When Gideon was escorting clients to a private room to discuss business, he suddenly stopped. After instructing his assistant to take the clients to the room first, he walked toward the adjacent roën. His gaze fell on Irvin after exchanging pleasantries.
“Irvin, isn’t today Mrs. Quill Senior’s 70th birthday? Why are you drinking here instead of attending the celebration
Irvin didn’t respond. He simply raised his glass and downed another mouthful of liquor.
“What’s wrong? Still angry at Emilia?” he asked. “Honestly, Emilia’s being unreasonable. She should be making an effort to reconcile with you at a time like this.
“It’s Mrs. Quill Senior’s 70th birthday. If you don’t attend with her, imagine how much ridicule she’ll face on her own.”
Irvin’s eyes darkened as he unconsciously glanced at his phone. When he saw the screen was clear–no missed calls or unread messages–his expression turned even darker.
Ever since he left yesterday, he had been waiting for my call. Today was Grandma’s 70th birthday, after all.
He thought no matter the circumstances, I would apologize and ask for his forgiveness so we could attend the celebration together for the sake of making Grandma happy and worry–free.
The celebration must have already started at this hour, yet I still hadn’t come to apologize.
Wasn’t I the one who cared most about Grandma and never wanted her to worry? The 70th birthday was a major milestone. It wasn’t just an ordinary family celebration
Nearly all of Claudeville’s upper–class circle would attend that event. As mysband, if he didn’t accompany me, where would that leave my reputation?
Even if I didn’t care about appearances anymore, wasn’t I afraid of causing Grandma concern?
“Irvin, in any case, 70 is a significant milestone for the elderly. It wouldn’t look good if your didn’t show up. Emilia is being immature, but don’t stoop to her level,” Gideon advised.
As soon as Gideon finished speaking, someone chimed in, “Woah, Gideon, why are you. defending Emilia so much? Do you like her?
“Tsk, tsk, nothing beats the fun of going after your friend’s wife, huh?”
Gideon frowned and was just about to say something when Irvin flung his glass fiercely at the speaker. The glass hit the man squarely in the face, and blood splattered instantly!
The room fell silent in an instant.

The man who was hit finally came to his senses. Irvin…“.
He was about to ask what was wrong and why Irvin had suddenly turned violent. But then he remembered something.
The last time someone in a private room called me “used” and claimed no one would buy me even if I were for sale, that person disappeared from Claudeville’s elite circles the very next day.
The man immediately shut his mouth, not daring to breathe too loudly.
Gideon assumed Irvin’s outburst was due to his anger over me and expected him to leave for Grandma’s birthday celebration. But instead, Irvin sat back down and continued drinking.
Gideon wanted to say something but reconsidered it. After a few more casual remarks, he left the room.
Irvin, though seated and drinking, kept glancing at his phone from time to time. Yet no matter how often he checked, there were no calls or messages from the person he was waiting for.
This made him increasingly agitated as he drank
He couldn’t understand what was wrong with me. How could I neglect even the grandmother I cared about the most? Previously, I would call him a hundred times in a single day, badgering him endlessly just to have a meal with him and Grandma to reassure her that we were doing well.
But now…
