Chapter 18
The moment Willa saw Rachel, her face darkened with displeasure.
Rachel glanced at her but didn’t pay her any mind, walking straight past her toward the entrance. “Sigmund asked me to come birthday. Why would I be afraid to come?”
“Stop right there!” Willa immediately ordered, signaling for someone to block her pail.
wish him a happy
“How dare someone like you show up at the Fox family’s door? Willa gave Rachel a once–over, her eyes narrowing as she took in the designer clothes she was wearing–clothes she’d never seen before.
A sneer curled her lips. “So you think that just by changing your outfit, you can pass fi
for high society? It’s true what they say–clothes make the man.
“A poor, insignificant person like you puts on fancy clothes, and nme you think you’re someone important. Too bad, no matter how nice you dress, it doesn’t change the fact that deep down, you’re still just a nobody.”
She scoffed again, continuing, “What are you here for, to bring Sigmund that garlage you’ve made again? Have you seen the gifts the others are bringing” Every time you show up with your worthless junk. It’s an embarrassment to all of us. Just leave.”
Rachel looked at Willa coolly. The things she’d brought in the past might not have seemed expensive, but they were all homemade medication with real value.
“You must be blind, mistaking good things for trash. It’s just typical–people like you can’t appreciate quality, But I’m not going to argue about it,” Rachel replied calmly.
The medicine she made with her own hands was priceless–things money couldn’t buy. Yer Willa always treated it like it was unworthy of notice.
You really think you’re something special, don’t you? Willa snapped stepping forward in fury. “Someone take her away! She’s no longer Mrs. Fox. No one’s letting her in!”
Callie, who had been watching from the sidelines, felt a flicker of worry. But then she realized something–Herb wasn’t with her today.
She thought, Maybe the news about her and Ahmad has already had its effect. It seems Herb has seen through her and is planning to discard her.
Feeling bolder now, Callie spoke up, “Rachel, Willa’s just trying to look out for you. There are a lot of people here today, and I saw you on the news,
“They said you were involved with a married man. If you show up here, everyone’s going to start gossiping. Maybe it’s better if you just lay low for a while”
The mention of the news immediately
fiately struck a chord with W
Willa. “Ah, now it makes sense. No wonder you’re dressed up so well.
“You’re probably earning that money through dirty means, and you still have the nerve to show up at the Fox family. You’ve really tainted this place.”
Rachel’s eyes
narrowed as she shot a cold glance at Callie. She thought, ‘It is possible that Callie is behind the news–after all, she was the one who saw me enter Ahmad’s VIP room that day!
“Ms. Nunez,” Rachel said with icy calm. “if you won’t show some decency for yourself, at least think about the child you’re carrying. Spreading rumurs like that isn’t exactly the best prenatal care.”
“You” Callic stuttered, seething with anger.
“Besides, Rachel continued, her voice smooth but sharp, “it seems you’ve been too busy spreading rumors to read the news properly. Mrs. Carter already clarified that the whole incident was a misunderstanding.”
Callie though, What? Callie’s face frore in disbelief. She quickly gra
grabbed her phone and started checking the news
As expected, Callie quickly saw the headline. [Mrs. Carter has personally clarified that the rumors about Ahmad are completely fabricated, the result of a misleading camera angle. She is already investigating the matter and would make sure the people behind the false news face legal

Callic teh her stomach tighten as she read the comments. “What… is this? Rachel, did you leak this” Her gaze was sharp, filled with suspicion.
Rachel put on an innocent face, spreading her hands as if to say, “I have no idea what you’re talking about
Her act was so convincingly pure that it almost outshone Callie’s own bitchy demeanor.
Callic, seething, was certain this had to be Rachel’s doing. She thought. “There is no way it isn’t.
Rachel merely gave a disdainful snort, Callie and George had been the first to provoke her, so if she didn’t fight back, she wouldn’t be Rachel
If they wanted to spread false rumors about her, she’d make sure to expose their own little secrets. She thought, ‘Let’s see who would blink first.
Willa, furious, pointed at Rachel and snapped, “You dare expose our Fox family’s private matters like this, and you still have the nerve to show up here?”
She was about to turn and order Rachel to be stopped when she saw the butler rush out from inside, looking flustered. “Mrs. Fox, you’re here! Mr. Fox has been asking for you. Please, come in.
Willa and Callie were frozen, their words caught in their throats.
Rachel didn’t even spare them a glance. With her chin held high, she followed the butler inside without a second thought.
Callie could only stare, burning with resentment. Sigmund had known she was here, and despite knowing she was pregnant, hadn’t let her in. But Rachel–she got to walk right in without hesitation. She thought. What makes her so special?
By the time Callie and Willa entered, most of the guests had already arrived, and the birthday celebration had begun.
Willa, sensing Callie’s frustration, tried to comfort her as they walked in. “Don’t worry, how long can Rachel hold on? Even if Sigmund favors her. what difference does it make
“You’re carrying the Fox family’s great–grandchild. Once he sees your belly, he’ll definitely soften up.”
Callie placed a hand on her stomach. She thought, “Yes, Rachel has nothing to offer–what can she possibly compare to me? I am carrying the only chuld in this generation of the Fox family!
Just then, George walked over
Willa immediately turned to him, her face flushed with anger. “George, you’re finally here! Do you know Rachel was here earlier?”
George, of course, had heard that Rachel had arrived. He had also been briefed on what had happened at the door, and he had already seen the
“George “Callie said, her voice full of hurt. “I haven’t said a word, so why does Rachel hate me so much?”
George’s face darkened. “Enough. Don’t provoke her. Just ignore her when you see her
Callie thought, What? Her eyes widened in disbelief.
