She said with a distressed look on her face, “Lily, even if you are angry with us, you shouldn’t make someone lie and say you are dead. Did you know that Mark went to the funeral parlor and almost went crazy finding you? It’s good to see you’re doing fine. Your friend here is too much. How can you make such a joke?”
Her words made Mark’s face darken.
He looked at Ralph with hostility and asked, “Who are you? Why did you lie to me that my wife/ was dead?”
Ralph’s mocking eyes glanced over the pair. Although he didn’t say anything, his look was extremely insulting, as if he was saying, ‘If you really cared, how would you not know that your wife was hospitalized due to a car accident for two days?‘
Mark held my hand guiltily, “I’m sorry, I really didn’t know you were in a car accident.”
I withdrew my hand indifferently, “It doesn’t matter, you’re my ex–husband. You don’t need to know about trivial matters.”
