just impassively watched her getting dragged away by the police.
Now that Isabelle’s crimes were exposed, this wedding was reduced to nothing but a joke. Adrian behaved exactly like an audience member. Once he was done watching the ridiculous drama, he got up with the intention to leave.
Once he exited the ballroom, he heard a voice ringing from behind him.
“Adrian Prince, return Ophelia’s ashes to me.”
Both Adrian and I stopped in our tracks instantly.
Dominic caught up to Adrian in just a few steps and stopped in front of him. His gaze was frosty and unfriendly.
“I checked the surveillance footage at the crematorium! You’re the one who took Ophelia’s ashes away! Give her back to me, Adrian!”
Adrian just replied with a cold chuckle, “Dominic, you were the one who trampled all over her ashes back then. What makes you think you have the right to use the words ‘give her

“Adrian Prince!”
“Dominic Sharp, I was the one who collected Ophelia’s ashes bit by bit. She was supposed to be pure and untainted, but she ended up getting covered in dust and grime because of you! You have no right to take her ashes away! I will never hand her over to you! Just give up already!”
When I was finally seated in Adrian’s car, I turned to look at him, only to make eye contact with him.
He smiled at me. “Will you blame me for hiding your ashes?”
I shook my head. Why would I be mad at Adrian for doing that? If anything, I’d like to thank him.
Adrian continued, “Have you thought about where you want to be buried? Your hometown, perhaps? Or a cemetery?”
He seemed so downtrodden that I felt inexplicably bad for him.
My hometown was also Adrian’s hometown, but I didn’t want to go back to that place. I thought for a few moments before pointing at a mineral water bottle.
Adrian frowned slightly. When he spoke again, his voice was tinged with sorrow.
“You want me to scatter your ashes into the sea?”
I nodded.
Adrian smiled again. This time, the corners of his eyes turned red.
He nodded. “Alright. Let’s bury you in the sea. That way, Dominic won’t be able to visit you ever again.”
We smiled at each other after that.
Adrian took me to the court to watch the trial on the day Isabelle received her final verdict from the judge.
He told me he wanted to show me the price the villain had to pay. In a way, he wanted me to rest in peace as well.
It had been a few days since I last saw Isabelle. She used to be the pampered and radiant adoptive daughter of the Sharps, but now, she looked like a huge mess. She didn’t seem to have the will to live as well.
It seemed as though Isabelle had gone through torture. When she was questioned by the lawyer, she kept trembling and stumbling over her own words. It was as though she might get punished for answering her questions late.
I watched the entire trial fold out. Strangely enough, the entire process of Isabelle pleading guilty to the moment she received her death sentence went by very smoothly.
But when Isabelle was in the midst of getting escorted out of the court, she suddenly started shrieking in a certain direction. It seemed that she wanted to run in that direction regardless of the consequences she had to face.
At the same time, she kept screaming, “Dominic, save me! I don’t want to die! I did all that because I love you too much! Dominic? Dominic! Save me! Please save me!”
I looked in that particular corner, only to realize that Dominic showed up at the trial as well. He just stared at Isabelle with a stony expression.
“Why didn’t you save my mother when you noticed she was having a heart attack? When you hired people to kill Ophelia, why didn’t you consider the fact that she didn’t want to die as well?
“Isabelle Sharp, there’s a saying that goes like this–an eye for an eye. How are you so shameless to yearn for the right to live at this hour?”
Isabelle’s emotional outburst gradually deflated. She demanded sorrowfully, “Was that wedding all a lie? Did you pamper me to no end before casting me to the abyss just to get revenge on me?”
Dominic just smiled cruelly at her questions.
The last trace of hope in Isabelle’s eyes flickered out entirely. She began laughing like a lunatic.
“So what if you get revenge on me in the end, Dominic? Ophelia can never return to you! She’s dead, after all!
“By the way, I forgot to tell you this, but she was still hoping that she could tell you the truth before she died! It’s too bad that one simple accident can take her life away!
“What were you doing during the time of the accident, hmm? You were sleeping with another woman! Hahaha!”
I felt nauseous all of a sudden, so I began dry–heaving uncontrollably. Yet, I couldn’t purge anything out of my system.
Adrian wanted to pat me on the back in order to comfort me, but he could only watch his hand phase through my body.
He murmured, “Ophelia, Dominic’s not worth your love.”
Yeah. He wasn’t worth my love at all. But I still stubbornly dove into the abyss and let myself sink into unimaginable depths.
After witnessing Isabelle’s ending, I felt extremely light all of a sudden.
Once we exited the court, Adrian stared at me unblinkingly out of nowhere. A mixture of pain and acceptance could be seen in his eyes.
His eyes reddened as well, and he sounded like he was about to cry. “Ophelia, I’ll take you to the beach.”
I looked down at my feet. It turned out that they had already become transparent.
A sad smile decorated my face as I nodded in response.
