Chapter 13
Dixon’s POV
We are all sitting in the private dining room to discuss what we need to do. I am so glad I have found my mate, as she is holding
my hand now, in the chair next to me, and she is the only thing keeping me from going over to Golden Summit and killing that son of a b***h. We all know he has her, he can deny it all her wants, but thankfully Mason thought to check the SUV for her scent, and it was hardly noticeable, but it was there. It was confirmed, and the werewolf council told Nico that he had 72 hours to
produce her, or they would authorize the war. But neither Nico nor his Beta was telling the Council where she was begin kept.
I pray to the Goddess again, he is taking care of her, and we have a few warriors outside his pack lands just waiting for him, or his Beta, Jaden Wooten to leave the pack lands. We have already got volunteers for the next several time slots, as everyone loves my sister, and wants her returned to us. They are going in four–hour time slots, so no one gets overly tired, and stays focused while they are watching to see where they go.
Jade suddenly sat up, and at first, I thought it was a baby pain from all the stress of Bree being taken, but instead, she got up and
went over to mom and spoke into her ear, and from the way my mother’s eyes flew open, it is NOT a good epiphany that she had. I see mom head over to dad and they get Asher as well and leave the room for a minute, and I am getting upset at not being
included in whatever they are discussing when Asher flies back into the room and said that we will need to find her fast.
“Asher, of course, we want to find her fast. I don’t want Nico to have the time to try to charm her to allow him to mate her, none
of us do. We just have to wait until he or Jaden goes to where she is being kept. Nico was clearly lying as they came back together and so Jaden knows where she is being held” I told him.
“No, we need to figure it out quicker than that. Because he refused to accept her rejection they are still bound. Bree has been
going into heat since she found her mate, if Jade is right, she will be going into her heat soon, and when she does, I am sure he will use that opportunity to get her to mate with him. He wants her, and he wants an heir. It will be a win/win for Nico. I am not
sure if he is aware of it or not, but if he finds out, he will definitely take advantage of the situation and sleep with Bree. I want to find her before he can abuse her heat and take her choice away from her” Asher tells us and the blood drains from my face, she
won’t be able to control herself, it will be the heat, and she won’t be able to refuse him. She will want him more than she can
stand, and he will mate her.
This will be the perfect storm for him, as this has probably been his goal the whole time. He wants her, and he won’t have to mark her to get this done as she will be literally out of her mind begging him to take her. I look over and I see how upset they both are, but Bree won’t be able to control it when it is happening to her, she will just be upset after the fact, and since they are mates, the probability will be extremely high that Bree will get pregnant from it. She has never been on birth control, and since Nico wants her pregnant with his pups, he won’t be using a condom. He couldn’t have gotten luckier or planned this better if he
had tried
I look at my mate as she squeezed my hand and she is smiling at me, and that helps me to calm back down a little bit. My worry for my sister is taking over, and I don’t know what to do.
I stand up and said, “Would you like to walk in the gardens with me Erin. I need to walk as just thinking about Bree being his
prisoner is driving me crazy”
“I would love to Dixon,” Erin tells me and gets out of her chair. Everyone gives us a slight smile as we exit the room to walk out into my mother’s garden.
The air is sweet as it is dusk now and it isn’t as hot as it normally is, as the sun is going down. My
ly mother loves flowers and we have some blooming cacti, and mom has some ironwood trees built around the garden to give the flowers a break from the blazing heat of the sun. The garden is colorful in oranges and yellows with the poppies and desert marigolds, desert globemallow, fiddleneck, and Golden columbine. There are also white flowers showing amongst them, and my mother also has purple flowers in the form of purple mat and Machaeranthera and pink zinnia. Her garden has a fountain in the center of it and benches and walkways as well, so you can sit and enjoy the beauty in front of you, and I usually find peace here, but not today. I don’t care what Asher said about it being his fault, it was my responsibility to watch her, and I was right there, and I missed protecting her by finding my mate. It was heart–wrenching that the best things that have ever happened to me, came at the expense of me allowing my sister to be taken. I am sick about it, and I just sit and stare at the fountain while I worry about my

“I am sorry Dixon, it was all my fault. If I had shown up five minutes earlier, or later, this would not have happened” Erin whispers
to me.
“No, it was my fault. I should have kept watch like I was supposed to and just asked you to come into the store with me to let you meet my sister, this wouldn’t have happened if I would have just done that. It is not your fault Erin, it is completely mine” I told her and leaned over to pull her to my side. I feel her lay her head on my shoulder and I take a deep sniff of her hair and it brings
me comfort. I take her hand back in mine and look back to the fountain,
“Son, it is not your fault, and I am so sorry for reacting so badly to Bree being taken. I was out of my mind with worry, as she is my baby girl. She has been carrying so much pain on her for months, and she never let on to anyone but Jade and your mother what she was going through just to be strong for us all. We will get her back, I know that they will have to go and check on her sooner than later, and I just pray that we can find her before her heat comes around again, but being with him may bring it around sooner, as we desperately crave our mates. The Moon Goddess made us that way so we could keep building our bloodlines up and increasing so we continue to flourish, I was there too, and I should have gone with you both, but since this trip wasn’t planned, none of us knew that she could be in danger” my father said from the pathway next to where I was sitting. He pauses for a minute, before continuing
“I was not trying to interrupt you two, I just knew how you were feeling son and I wanted to tell you that I am always proud of you Dixon. You have never, ever disappointed me, and I love you. Please do not take what has happened as being your fault. It lies squarely on Nico, as he and Shelby have been the ones hurting Bree for the last two months because he is a greedy and selfish man. He has his chosen mate, but now that he has met Bree and knows what having a mate feels like he wants her now too. If he could let go of his chosen mate, I would support their union, but from what I have heard he has entered into a legal agreement with Shelby, and his hands are tied. I got my message across to him today when I knocked him out. He knows I will not let him shame my daughter by allowing him to treat her like she is his concubine. When we find her, I will kill him myself, if I need to allow the bond to break. It will hurt her at first, but she will be relieved eventually to not feel him betraying her at every turn my father tells us, and I see a tear in his eye.
I get up and go to hug him and we stand there for a minute drawing comfort from each other before he clears his throat and steps back away from me.
“I am so happy that you found your mate son, there is nothing more important than your true mate. Welcome to the family Erin, we are happy that you are here” my dad tells us and then turns and walks back to the house.
“Dixon, do you want us to go ahead and mark each other?” Erin asks me.
“I would like to mark you, so everyone knows that you are mine unless you think it is too soon?” I told her and Erin blushes a little.
“The Goddess gave us to each other Dixon, she doesn’t make mistakes and I have a lot of strong feelings for you. I know that we were meant to be together. We will be staying together tonight, won’t we?” Erin asks me and now I blush. I had not thought of that.
“I guess we will be. Do you want me to mate and mark you tonight? Or do you just want me to mark you, and we mate at a later time?” I asked her, and I am hoping that she is ready to be with me and we become a mated couple tonight.
“I am proud to become your mate Dixon, we can mate and mark each other tonight,” Erin tells me. I grab her around the waist and swing her around. I am so happy that the Goddess sent my mate to me so soon. I turned 18 last month and she recently just turned 18 as well, we could have missed each other at the mall, and not found each other for years, but she was Goddess sent to me. There must be a reason for all that is going on right now, and I will just be thankful to the Goddess for giving me, my sweet
mate.
