Chapter 14
Nico’s POV
I am not an i***, I already knew that Asher would have someone out there waiting for Jaden or me to leave the property and I sent some of my trackers out to look and see where they were. I knew that they would have to be within 5 miles of my pack, off the road leading into my packlands. I was right, they found the SUV sitting there with 2 warriors in it, and I had instructed Jaden to be the second SUV to leave as the first one would come up and park diagonally across the front of the SUV, to block them in, and allow Jaden to leave and go take care of my mate.
I had to also instruct Jaden that he would have to stay there with her for the next few days so he could just go out and get food for them. There was not going to be another chance to get him away from the Stone Moon pack again, as once we did this, Jaden can’t come back for a while. They were really serious about getting Sabrina back, and I know they love her too, and I couldn’t blame them for wanting her back, as I wanted her too. They would come back, and in greater numbers, so we only had this one shot to get him past the warriors out there, and we needed to take it. Jaden was also told that she could be starting her heat soon and to let me know the second he could sense it and that he needed to stay downstairs until I could get there to relieve him.
Shelby was angry still this morning and was giving me, the cold shoulder and i was thankful for it. She heard me last night in the shower taking care of my problem, and she was furious that I didn’t come to her for her to get another release last night, and she knew it was because I didn’t want to hurt Sabrina anymore than I already have. Shelby asked me last night when I came to bed to go ahead and accept Sabrina’s rejection and let her go. I need to find a way to get my pack taken care of, so I can let Shelby go, and be with Sabrina.
When Jaden was ready to go, I reminded him again to let me know immediately if Sabrina went into heat, and that I believed that it would be within the next few days. I also gave him $1000 from the safe so he could go to the grocery store, or get fast food, to get food for the week. He would stay on the lower floor and I would be upstairs with my mate when I did come. He knew that I would need him to lock me inside her room and that I would be bringing in extra drinks and snacks for us to have as when our mates go into heat, they don’t stay satiated. They want to keep having s*x for days, usually, 3 of them on average, or until the female is pregnant.
I watch as they go to leave the pack grounds and wish that I could see their faces when they get boxed in and cannot follow Jaden as he leaves. I give another smug smile and then turn around to see Shelby standing right behind me.
“So, let me guess, you are sending Jaden to take care of your little mate?” Shelby hissed at me.
I immediately mindlinked Jaden to let him know that Shelby was going to have him tailed. “Jaden do not go to visit Sabrina, Shelby is having you followed as well, as Stone Moon. Get a room for the night and lead them around until you know which two vehicles they will be using. I would rather let Sabrina go back to her pack than Shelby and her goons get their hands on her for a minute. She will make her disappear forever. Be safe, and don’t take any risks. If you can’t shake them by tomorrow afternoon, I can have one of the guys bring a car for you to change out to in the parking garage, or you come back here. Let me know” I stopped the link and went to walk past Shelby and go back into the packhouse.
“It is just a matter of time, Nico. You need to return the girl to her pack, this will be your only warning. I WILL eventually get a hold of her, and I will let my men have her for their own fun. You won’t want her back after that. I will make sure they mess her pretty little face up when they are done with her. I AM your Luna, whether you want me to be or not. I will not let you replace me with her” Shelby spat out and went to turn around and walk off.
I grabbed her by her neck and slammed her body into the door of the packhouse. “You dare to threaten my mate? I should kill you slowly just for making the threat. If you do anything at all to Sabina, I swear to the Goddess that there will be nowhere that you can hide from me, and I will give you threefold what you gave her. I will still want her no matter what, but I will make sure that all that you have ever valued, will be lost to you. I will turn your face into a horrible monster, so your outside can reflect what is on the inside if you mar my mate’s face. I will make you beg for death, and I will not give it to you. I will make you wish that you had never met me if one hair on her head is hurt, Shelby. So, you better think long and hard on it, and call your watchdogs off, because I swear that you won’t make it a day if anything at all happens to Sabrina.” I release her and watch as she sinks down to the ground holding her throat and looking at me with surprise written all over her face. She knows that I will do it now, and I

smell the fear coming off of her.
I know that she didn’t expect that, but what she just threatened to do to my mate, have her be r***d by her men, I lost control. I may need to reach out to Asher and see if I can make a deal for the people in my pack to be able to be protected and taken into other packs, as I will give up everything to have Sabrina, and I head up to my office to make the call. Shelby has gone too far, and I cannot risk my mate’s life, as I see what Shelby’s real plans are now concerning Sabrina.
“Asher,” I say as soon as he answers his phone.
“What do you want Nico? Asher asks me and the anger in his voice lets me know I need to get to the point quickly.
“I am sorry, Asher. I will return Sabrina. I do not want her to be hurt, I only wanted her to be safe, and Shelby was making plans to
hurt her. Now that I know the full extent of her plans, I want to see if we can make a deal, Sabrina said that you would help me and that she would advocate for me, but I need to know that you can help my people” I told him.
“What is it that you need Nico?” Asher asked in a less angry voice.
“I have 358 pack members. I need them to be able to be taken into other packs for their own protection” I start off and fill him in on the deal that I made, and that Shelby would be able to run my pack if I broke the contract. I heard a sigh, and then I hear Andrew Morris speak out, “That was truly a stupid deal to make Nico, but I know that you lost your father well before you actually lost your father. I see where the fresh memories may have made you want to avoid your heart being broken, but I can tell you realize the error you made and that you want to rectify it. Give me a few days to see what plans can be made, and what we can do to help. But I need your word that Bree will come to no harm with you. I need you to protect her and keep her safe, and that includes not taking advantage of the situation that we all know is coming soon Nico, do not take my daughter against her will. Do not use her heat against her, as we are aware that it is coming.” I put my head into my hands, and I want to be able to say that I won’t do it, but I know in my heart when her heat hits, it will be like a Siren’s song to me, and I don’t know if I am strong enough to resist it.
“I will do my absolute best to avoid Sabrina while she is in heat. But I cannot say for sure that I am strong enough to do that. I want her to be protected and safe, and you know she will call to any unmated men, and as I cannot mark Shelby, it also includes me. I will not take the risk of another man trying to take my mate, but I will try to just protect her, and ignore the call of her wolf, as best I can Sir. You are doing me and my pack a favor, and I appreciate that. I am willing to give up my Alpha title to have Sabrina. I hope you understand how much my pack and people mean to me, but I value her, even more than being an Alpha.” I told them both over the line, and I hope they can hear the sincerity in my voice with what I said.
“I understand the pull of our mates, it calls to us, and you are right. I would give up everything for Jade as well, so I understand your pain and the problem you are about to face. I will get on this right now and see what we can do to help” Asher tells me and then drops the call.
I pull up the screen so I can see what Sabrina is doing and I see her sitting on the bed, as there are no other chairs in the room, and she has her knees pulled up to her chest. She is just sitting there and not moving. She still has the phone off the hook and laying on the nightstand and I know she doesn’t want to talk to me. I want to comfort her so badly, and I zoom in on her and stroke her cheek with my finger and wish that I could be there with her, and it frustrates me that this seems like it is dragging so much. I want this over with today, so I can hold my sweet mate in my arms and inhale her honeysuckle scent, which is now my favorite scent because it reminds me of her.
I sit back and sent up a prayer to the Moon Goddess, Selene, for protection for both my mate and my pack. For my people to end up where they are supposed to be and be safe in those packs. I will be happy as long as I am with Sabrina, and my people are safe from Shelby and her father. I know that they will own the packhouse and the land, but I am OK with it all as long as my little mate is with me. I am quite sure that in her fury she will probably burn it to the ground, but that will be her problem as my past is done with, and I am only looking forward to my future.
