“Since when did I have a child I didn’t know about?” Alexander’s voice came from the
doorway.
Seeing him arrive, I ran to him excitedly and hugged him happily.
“Honey, why did you suddenly come?”
Alexander lovingly tapped my nose and said with a smile, “I got off work early today and wanted to take you out for steak. The housekeeper said you’d gone home, so I came to pick
you up!”
Seeing our sweet interaction, Jessica let out a cry of despair.
“No! Alexander! You can’t be with this woman!”
“I love you so much, how could you betray me and fall for my best friend?”
She burst into tears, playing the victim.
I glanced at Alexander, who immediately waved his hands in panic, hurriedly explaining:
“Darling, it’s not true! I don’t even know this crazy woman!”
“I only love you!”
Hearing this, I felt a warmth in my heart.
Alexander caught sight of me from the corner of his eye, and his bravado immediately
deflated.
He avoided my gaze, looking somewhat awkward.
What was he afraid of? Probably that I wouldn’t believe him.
Alexander moved his lips, wanting to say something, but unable to explain.
I winked at him, giving him reassurance.
“Honey, trust me, I’ll clear your name.”
Jessica had appeared behind me at some point and said disdainfully:
“Tsk! Afraid to own up to what you’ve done?”
“If you don’t want to break up, that’s fine. Give me $3 million, and I’ll disappear immediately. I promise I won’t bother you again
Hearing this, Alexander seemed tempted.
After all, money was the least of his concerns. In his words, any problem that could be solved with money wasn’t really a problem.
If spending $3 million could make Jessica, this annoying trouble, disappear completely, he thought it was a good deal.
Seeing his interest, I immediately spoke up to kill the idea.
“No way. Even though we have money, we can’t just throw it away like that!”
Then I turned to Jessica, narrowing my eyes and staring at her intently, asking:
“You say the child in your belly is my husband’s?”
Jessica nodded firmly.
“That’s right!”
Ismirked slightly and said slowly:
“Alright, if that’s the case, let’s do a paternity test right now.”
