I sneered, “Well, what does it have to do with me? You didn’t think of me when you were eating, but all of a sudden, you’re afraid? What have you been doing before this?”
“Jessica!” she screamed.
“Stop yelling! Are you still in the police station? Depending on my mood, you may need to stay there for a couple of days!” I ended the call after that.

The next morning, I went to the police station to negotiate with them. I asked for 7.5 thousand dollars as compensation for slapping me. When Laura heard that, she jumped and said, What? Seven thousand five hundred dollars?! Are you made of gold or something? This is daylight robbery!”
I spread my hands and said, “I don’t want to do this either. I’ve never been beaten in my entire life! If you don’t want to pay me, you can just go to jail. Your grandson may not be able to sit for the civil service exam because of your criminal records, though.”
I had done nothing wrong, so I was not intimidated in the slightest. I had no reason to argue with her.
Laura toned down immediately.
A big, strong man stood beside Laura who seemed to be Cecilia’s husband, Justin Newman.
Justin looked at me with displeasure, “Young lady, I heard that my wife wanted you to bring her breakfast, but you refused.”
“Well, is your wife pregnant with my child? Why should I bring her breakfast? Besides, the child in her womb is a precious life, and I was concerned the child would be harmed. Who knows if you’d try to extort a hundred fifty thousand dollars from me?”
I rolled my eyes and said to Laura, “Stop talking nonsense. Think it over carefully, because I don’t want to waste my time.”
I said to the police officer, “Will she be detained if she refuses to settle?”
“She must be detained.
“Think it over, old lady. Since you hit someone, you have to pay the price. Seven thousand five hundred dollars—just pay the money to save yourself the trouble.
“You hit her real hard yesterday. This young lady almost fainted from that slap!”
