Chapter 8.1
Chapter 8.1
Just as I was unsure of what to do, I caught sight of Officer Brooks, the police officer who had handled our case that day.
Without hesitation, I shouted, “Officer Brooks! Someone is disturbing the peace here!”
Thomas’s face turned bright red as he hurriedly waved his hands, “No, no, it’s a misunderstanding! I’m here to propose!”
I quickly hid behind Officer Brooks, who was dressed in plain clothes and said, “I wouldn’t dare marry you again. What if today you say the bride price is 18.88, but tomorrow it turns into 188.8? I’m just an ordinary worker, I can’t afford to be swindled by you.”

Thomas was nearly beside himself with anger, “It was clearly a misunderstanding! Why can’t you let it go?”
I let out a chuckle, “We’ve clearly broken up, so why keep holding on?”
I punctuated his already misplaced love and patience with a few sharp words. Add to that Officer Brooks’s warning and the criticism from my good neighbors.
Thomas, carrying the money, abandoned the flowers he’d stepped on and fled in
embarrassment.
After the crowd dispersed, I realized that not only was Officer Brooks not wearing his uniform, but he was also holding a bag of trash.

I looked at him apologetically, “Sorry, I didn’t know you were off–duty.”
He said, “It’s alright, it’s alright. I’m always here to serve the public, especially since we’re neighbors.”
After all, a good neighbor is better than a distant relative. I immediately made up my mind to get on good terms with Officer Brooks! So, I grabbed the trash from his hands and threw it in a perfect arc.
Officer Brooks clenched his fist against his lips, “Ahem, ahem, I wouldn’t recommend throwing trash like that. If it scatters, the cleaners will be very busy.”
A sudden heat rose on my face. I quickly admitted my mistake and hurried home.

Chapter 8.1
My mom, still half asleep, looked at me and asked, “Why are you running?”
I awkwardly chuckled, “Nothing, just… nothing!”
That evening, I received a debt collection call from my junior! When I rushed to the restaurant, it was full of flowers!
My junior was holding a bouquet, kneeling on one knee to confess. I … must have ascended to the heaven today.
People were kneeling in front of me left and right.
With rare seriousness on his face, he said, “Old men aren’t tasty, try some young fresh meat!”
Chapter 8.1
Being confessed to and proposed to is a surprise, no doubt. But I think … I don’t really like ‘young fresh meat.‘
Just as I was unsure how to respond, I caught a glimpse of Officer Brooks eating in the corner of the restaurant. I calmly told my junior that I had a boyfriend.
I pulled Officer Brooks out from the corner. I gave my junior a lesson: Don’t confess to a gir when you don’t understand her feelings. In the end, I still thanked my junior for his help
The three of us drank and chatted. The scene
was awkward, but I still got drunk. I even started bragging! I patted my junior on the back and said, “If I liked ‘young fresh meat,‘ I would have taken you down the moment you
