Chapter 35
I was still wondering about what business they had with each other. I mean, it couldn’t concern me, but this was Victoria, whatever she had going on with Logan was not good. She also mentioned she had information that could be vital to me. What could that information be, and why did she want to suddenly tell me? I mean, knowing her, it must be money, but what information could that be?
I didn’t realize I was pacing around with my hand ninning over my chin until Noella’s voice shook me out of my thoughts, and when [ snapped out of it. I saw another figure in the room with us.
“Mr. Miller wants to speak to you.” It was a woman, and judging by the way she dressed and the tag she wore, I quickly figured she was Logan’s assistant
“Noella.”
“Yes, Mrs. Cooper.
“Please show Mr. Miller’s as
assistant out and tell her to tell her boss that I am busy. Am I clear?”
“Yes, Mrs” Noella tumed to her, and I just felt their footsteps next as I looked at my computer screen; pretending to be busy. I’m sure she was wondering why I didn’t speak to her directly.
Hearing the door close, I took deep breaths as I wondered what Logan wanted. God, I was told he doesn’t stay here for long, so why the hell was he still here? Calming down, I started looking at the documents Noella brought and then got to work.
I managed to distract myself from thinking of Aunt or Logan until the work was done, but I was glad it was time to go home as my phone beeped with a reminder. Gosh, it was my first day, and I already couldn’t stand being here.
Well, maybe I would be used to it, used to knowing my ex–husband owned it, it was my first day after all, and besides, this was a one- time lifetime opportunity. I was not going to miss it for some ex who didn’t even love me.
Standing up, I started gathering my things, and that’s when the door opened without anyone knocking, and of course, it was Logan.
“Mr. Miller, have you ever heard of knocking?” I tried to sound as professional as possible.
“Oh yes,” he said, and like a comedy, he walked out, and after a few seconds, he started knocking, making me chuckle in disbelief. “I guess that’s where you’re supposed to ask me to come in.” He said as he let himself in without waiting for my permission.
“Again, I didn’t ask you to come in
“I know, which is the reason I said that. See, I never knock; this is my company, and-”
“I am your client, not your employee.” I cut him off, which made his mouth drop. “If we are going to work together, then I suggest we respect each other.”
“Of course, apologies for that. He sounded shocked like he didn’t expect me to say that.
“Next time, I will ask you to leave and wait for my permission; now, how can I help you?”
“I sent my assistant; there were some terms I wanted us to look through”
“Jack told me everything was set, that he approved my edits, so I don’t understand what you are trying to say,

“Well..” I swallowed my saliva; I must admit, his saying caught me off guard, but again, this was Logan, he always had a way of getting his way, and I was not that naive, Patricia, so I told him it was not my business.

Chapter 33
“Can 1 at least drive you home?”
“My husband is here.”
“Coffee
tomorrow.
“No.
“Come on
“I said no.”
“Well, if you keep saying no, then I will keep insisting, so it’s better we have the coffee and for you to hear me out, don’t you think?” He followed behind me, gosh, it was so embarrassing as employees were now looking at us, giving weird eyes.
“Fine, but not today.”“
“Tomorrow then?”
“I will see, okay?”
“Okay” He finally gave in as I felt his footsteps stopping. I thanked the heavens before I quickened my steps and, reaching the reception, I wished Noella a goodbye and instructed her to sort the documents before closing for the day-
Walking toward the main exit door, I couldn’t help but notice the eyes of employees on me. God, if eyes could kill, I would be dead by now, as some were giving me weird vibes like I had stolen their husband or something, which I didn’t really mind because Richard was waiting for me, but I made a mental note to set this straight when I have time, as there were employees. I was technically their boss, as the book I wrote would be taking care of their bills one way or another; I deserved some respect from them.
When I reached out, Andreas and Richard were waiting outside the car. Andreas ran to me, which was the first time, as he never got excited seeing me. Confused, I picked him up and then played with his cheeks.
How was your day, Mamma?” He asked, making me smile.
“Honey.” Richard kissed both my cheeks before opening the backseat door for Andreas and then leading me to the passenger seat. He opened my door, and I thanked him before I got in.
He joined shortly after, and I gave him a proper kiss before he started the car.
“Andreas looks excited.” I commented after a look at him, as he seemed to be coloring in his book.
“He is. He really loved my office.” Richard answered, and I nodded my head.
The rest of the drive was silent until we were close to the house when Richard mentioned we had to attend dinner with his late parents‘ friends
“Mr. and Mrs. Rodriquez.”
“Oh, that sounds lovely, When?” I asked as I promised Poppy dinner on Friday.

“Okay?” Richard sounded shocked Well, he should be, because I rarely agree to anything, especially dinners. I mean, after what I went through with Logan, how Poppy and Charlotte–I mean, most of the people we had dinner with made fun of me
I was too afraid to attend dinners, that’s why 1 rarely went out for dinner with Richard’s friends back in London, even when those people turned out different like they were all very kind and knew better. Richard, even when it was a joke, always intervened; he always defended me, so different from Logan, who just watched and sometimes joined them.
“I think connecting with your father’s friends will be good for you.” I lied, as deep down I just wanted to use this in case he rejected Poppy’s dinner, Richard smiled and thanked me before he parked the car.
Inside we both got ready, putting on proper clothes for the night. It took us an hour to be ready, I made Andreas a sack while Richard made a call upstairs.
After a few minutes, we were both ready; Richard drove us to the house. It was twenty minutes from our apartment, and I noticed it was located a little outside town
Chapter 35
When we reached there, we were led inside by maids, it seemed to be a mansion, the one with more than five maids or so.
“It’s beautiful,” I commented, admiring the decorations. I especially loved the plants.
Inside, an elderly woman and man came to us, taking first Richard in their arms and then me and my son.
“You’re welcome, my god, I can’t believe Cooper’s sah is really standing here with us, and his wife and son. the winan sounded emotional Richard gave the bottle of wine that we came with to the man, who, taking it, led him to his cellar saying he wanted to show him his collection.
“I know
you don’t drink, but this was your father’s favorite.” He said.
I followed the elderly woman as she led me to the family’s room: Andreas, being so close to Richard, had gone with them. Well, I was smiling for a second until I saw two familiar figures seated on the sofa, which made my heart stop beating for a second.
Logan Irene?
What the hell were they doing here?
