Chapter 22
Despite Lilian’s thoughts, she remained silent.
And in Henry’s eyes, that was a wordless agreement to what Prince Michael had said.
He clenched his hands behind his back, then turned toward Lilian with a cool look. “Are you sure about this, Ms. Kerr? Glaston is a faraway place–things are vastly different from how they are here in the capital.”
In Lilian’s mind, however, Henry was merely warning her that the climate was different, and she answered solemnly, “His Highness has told me that the winters won’t be as cold in Glaston, and I’m sure I could get used to it as long as it isn’t cold.”
And to be honest, she really hated the cold–be it the cold she suffered from soaking her hands into icy water or the bone–cutting cold of being locked outdoors, she wanted none of it.

Though her words left Henry unable to respond, he kept his cold eyes fixed on her, the point that Lilian could feel his rage even without looking at him.
He was upset, but why?
Because she was going to marry the prince?
But that did not make sense!
He was looking forward to her marrying, was he not? It was the only way for him to get lawfully married to Evelyn, was it not?
Still, Lilian soon got it–Henry was upset that the prince was too good for her.
After all, who would expect a servant who worked in the washhouse for three years would end. up marrying a prince?
She really did not want to think that lowly of Henry, but the reason for his anger was just too strange that she had to think that of him.
And even as she realized that, her own rage flared as well.
Looking up to meet Henry’s eyes with a smile, she said, “Whatever the case may be, I won’t be an obstacle to you. You should actually be pleased.”
Instead of standing there, shooting her sour looks!
Henry’s knuckles clenched even more tightly at that–if he had been holding anything, it would have been crushed into ashes.
That was when Michael seemed to remember something with a start. “Oh, right! Lily used to be engaged to General Stark here, and-”
“No, that’s history now,” Lilian said, cutting him short.

Chapter 22
She did not want to hear a word of things like being the marquis‘ household treasured daughter, Rupert’s most beloved sister, or Henry Stark’s fiancee.
It was history now.
A simple line, yet effectively setting aflame the rage welling within Henry’s being, and he laughed despite himself.
Then, his lips curling up in a smile of disdain, he said, “Yes, I shall soon be marrying the heiress of the marquis‘ household. It will be an honor if Your Highness would attend our wedding with your bride–to–be.”
He made sure to emphasize ‘the heiress of the marquis‘ household‘, while spitting ‘bride–to- be‘ with sarcasm.
Hearing that, Lilian took a deep breath to repress her flaring rage and smiled in turn. “Of course.”
Of course?!
Henry stared fixedly at Lilian, his smile somehow colder now.
However, she was not looking at him–instead, she turned toward Michael and bowed her head. “Excuse me.”
With that, she turned to leave without looking at Henry.
As Michael spoke, his melodious voice was probing. “It seems that Lily is no longer interested in you, general. Don’t you agree?”
Finally turning away from Lilian, Henry leveled an icy glare at the prince. “Does she know about your… problem?”
