Chapter 28
Lilian sighed in exasperation, grooming herself a little before stepping out to see Evelyn.
Soon, Evelyn entered her pavilion with Winter in tow.
Lilian almost laughed out loud right then, seeing that Winter was really glued to Evelyn.
As Evelyn entered, she bowed to Lilian.
Seeing Lilian’s smile, she presumed that Lilian was in a good mood.
Her nervousness easing considerably, she smiled at Lilian too. “Did I bother you coming this early, sister?”
Lilian sighed, unsure what Evelyn was playing at. “What brings you
here?
“I was just going to invite you to Felton Shrine…”
Evelyn appeared quite excited too, just as Lilian suddenly remembered that the eighth day of the new year was the day for a sacred festival for the shrine.
The rumor was that on this day, anyone with a penitent heart who went to pray there would be granted any wish.
She had always visited Felton Shrine every year too, praying for her family and to see Henry.
But after those three years, she certainly would not be praying for them and was just as reluctant to see Henry.
Still, she could make the trip for Madam Lestrade’s sake, praying that she could live a few years more in happiness.
However, the sacred festival only lasted one day, so the rich and important would always flock to the shrine..
That in turn meant Lilian would meet the heiresses she used to know.
With her fall from grace, Lilian knew that plenty of people would talk when they saw her.
But what was that compared to Madam Lestrade’s good health?
She nodded, not hesitating for long. “Alright. Let me prepare myself.
They could not go empty–handed to the shrine, after all.
To their surprise, however, Evelyn said, “You don’t have to prepare anything. I’ve already got everything we need.”
As she spoke, she was ready to reach out and hug Lilian’s arm.
In her mind, the fact that Lilian was agreeing to go to the shrine meant their relationship was no longer strained.

Chapter 28
And since Lilian was going to be a princess soon, Evelyn did not have to worry still having feelings for Lilian.
about Henry
Being that much more thrilled, she snuggled up to Lilian as if it was only natural.
However, Lilian’s entire body stiffened, frowning from Evelyn’s sudden intimacy and pulling her arm firmly out of Evelyn’s grasp. “I can walk on my own.”
She was just stopping short of showing disgust on her face.
Evelyn was taken aback, not expecting Lilian’s sudden shift in mood. “S–Sister…”
Her tears welled up in her eyes right then, and she looked wounded–even devastated.
Lilian sighed in exasperation again but did not want trouble bearing down her doorstep and spoke again, “I’m not used to being too close with people.”
Evelyn nodded. “I understand. I’m the reason you’re in this situation, and it’s only right that you don’t like me. But…”
She bit her lip, as if it took her resolve to speak again. “But Mother is really worried about you. Please don’t upset her anymore–she’s losing so much weight because you’re always on her mind.
“If you have any problems, just take it up with me. Don’t hurt Mother anymore!”
