“What are the conditions?” Kael asked warily.
“Don’t trust her! I knew she wouldn’t agree so easily,” Lila said, shaking Kael’s arm.
“I’ve already been negotiating a theme park design partnership with Galaxy Group. This project must continue,” I said.
Hearing this, Kael breathed a sigh of relief.
Galaxy Group was globally renowned, and in Kael’s eyes, this partnership was a huge opportunity.
But others in the room were far less pleased.
Everyone expected me to fight to the bitter end, but I gave in quickly instead. They were all disappointed and contemptuous of me.
The Alpha, who had been willing to help me with the lawsuit, was the first to sigh.
“I thought you were a strong woman, but I guess you’re just weak! People like you–pitiful yet infuriating!”
“Tolerating evil people is a harm to the good ones. She deserves this!”
“How could she be so spineless? If it were me, I’d have made sure that cheating couple paid dearly!”
Everyone seemed against me except Chris. He stood firmly by my side. Though he said nothing, his meaningful gaze on me said everything.
A company’s IPO celebration ultimately ended in chaos and dissatisfaction.
Former subordinates who had once fought alongside me crowded around, asking why I had so easily abandoned the company–and them.
“I’m too tired. I need to go home now.” I said with a small smile and started walking away.
“Veya, wait. I’ll take you home,” Chris offered, catching up to me.
