Chris’s gesture toward me left everyone in the room utterly stunned.
“Did I hear that right? Did he just call Veya Lady Boss?”
“I don’t get it. What’s their relationship?”
“Could Chris actually be interested in this Omega?”
The crowd murmured in hushed tones.
Kael, clearly confused, asked,
“Chris, why are you calling Veya your boss? Did you mistake her for someone else?”
Lila, even more unwilling to accept the situation, added,
“Chris, you must be joking, right?”
Chris cast a cold glance at them, his voice icy and laced with disdain.
“How could I mistake my own boss? Or do you think I’m blind?”
His retort left Lila and the others visibly flustered.
“N–no, not at all, Chris! I was just worried you might’ve been deceived. I know exactly what kind of person my sister is!” Lila stammered.
Chris let out a derisive snort, then turned his gaze back to me with a mix of affection and frustration.
“You don’t understand her at all. For years, she took care of your children, helped you pay off your debts, and never took a single day to rest. Instead of being grateful, you bullied and slandered her!”
He then looked at Noah, his expression filled with disappointment.
