Chapter 28
Suzanne nodded at Shane, and he immediately looked at the man, saying, “Mr. Guerra, this is Jane.”
At that, Shane turned to Suzanne and introduced, ‘This is Marcin Guerra, the Mr. Guerra I mentioned to you before.”
Suzanne nodded lightly, but Marvin immediately frowned with a look of suspicion in his eyes. “This is Jane?”
Could this just be someone they found to cover for the actual person?
Suzanne, who was about to greet him, suddenly stopped
Shane’s playful smile faded slightly, and his expression turned serious as he looked at Marvin “Mr. Guerra, are you questioning me?”
Shane’s reputation in the industry was well–established, and everyone knew who he was.
Marvin immediately smiled flatteringly, saying, “No, no! How could I ever question you?
Though he said that, his gaze unknowingly shifted toward Suzanne, who remained silent.
Suzanne pulled out a chair and sat down. Her fingers lightly tapped on the table repeatedly. The atmosphere within the room immediately became tense.
Marvin subconsciously gulped. The young woman before him was beautiful and extremely young, but she ended an overwhelming pressure that made him feel uneasy. He began to regret his earlier words
He approached Suzanne with a smile on his face and quickly picked up the razpot on the table. He poured half a cup of tea for her and then set the teapot down
He then looked at Suzanne and apologized softly, “I’ve never met a miracle doctor before, and I never expected to see one an beautiful and young. Please forgive me.”
Suzanne’s gaze lingered on the half–filled teacup. She paused in her tapping for a moment, and she slowly lifted the teacup before taking a small sip. “Mr. Guerra, you’re overthinking it. It’s fine.”
After all, this wasn’t the first time something like this happened. She had somewhat grown used to it
When Marvin heard that, he let out a sigh of relief. He smiled lightly as he sat down
Suzanne lifted her gaze to look at him “Mr. Guerra, please explain the situation”
Her straightforwardness caught Marvin off guard. He suddenly felt that working with Suzanne was quite pleasant, with no unnecessary delays or complications
Marvin’s smile faded from his face, and he sighed deeply before speaking, “In the past, I was busy with my business. My wife took care of everything at home, so I rarely paid attention to thy family.”
When he mentioned this, Marvin seemed melancholic “Over the years, I’ve made a lot of money, but now…”
He trailed off, seemingly having difficulty with continuing
Suzanne glanced at Shane, but she quickly everted her gaze without speaking, Shane, however, looked at Marvin and reassured him, “It’s okay. We’re doctors. You need to be clear about everything so that Jane can provide the best treatment.”
Given their line of work, matters of personal privacy were something they were quite familiar with, so neither of them found them awkward.
Marvin nodded and continued, “It’s my son. He has been married for five years and has no children. After some checks, we found out that
There was a flicker of regret in his eyes as he clenched his fists and gently pounded them against his knees. He then continued, “In that aspect, his development is incomplete. If I had paid more attention to my family and taken care of my child, he probably wouldn’t have turned out like this! 1 should’ve taken him to the hospital sooner!“.
He lowered his head, filled with regret.
Marvin shook off the emotions be felt and looked at Suzanne apologetically, sighing “That’s also why I was slightly surprised to see that the miracle doctor is such a young lady. I just think it’d be too difficult for you to treat him….
Suzanne remained so silent for a moment that even Shane glanced over at her.
She took another sip of tea from her teacup and then looked up at Marvin. “I’m a doctor. For me, there’s no distinction between men and women, only the relationship between doctor and patient. So, you don’t need to worry about this.”
Since she had entered this field, such things were commonplace and to be expected.
Shane gazed at her, and he subely let out a relieved sigh before chuckling at Marvin. “Mr. Guerra, Jane isn’t like us ordinary people,
Η
Suzanne was at a loss for words. She unknowingly looked up at Shane, wanting to slap him. Why did it feel like he was digging her into a hole?
Shane noticed Suzanne’s paze and hurriedly looked away. He lowered his head and rubbed his nose, not daring to look at her.
When Marvin saw that Suzanne didn’t pay it any mind, his eyes instantly sparkled with hope. He looked at her and asked, “Then, my son’s condition.
