At that moment, a figure appeared in the hallway, and Suzanne lifted her gaze to look at the entrance.
The man who walked in was an elderly man in his 60s. He bore a striking resemblance to Austin, with sharp eyebrows and tightly pursed lips that exuded calm and confidence. He wore a suit, and despite his age, the demeanor he gave off was still imposing
It was Austin’s father–Timothy Hall.
When Felicia saw Timothy enter, she pulled Suzanne forward slightly and introduced
ed her with a bright smile, “Timothy, this is Austin’s wife, 5
She then turned to Suzame and continued the introductions, “This is Austin’s father.”

Suzanne quickly set down the teacup in her hand, stood up, and greeted respectfully, “Hello,
The word felt scalding on her tongue. After all, she was meeting him for the first time and addressing him as such. It was a bit much for her to handle.
Suzanne thought Timothy’s attitude would be similar to Felicia’s, but to her surprise, he frowned deeply and looked at her with displeasure. He said in a low voice, “Ms. Yates, let’s not casually use that address.”
The atmosphere seemed to drop to a frosty temperature before freezing over
Suzanne’s gaze flickered slightly. It seemed Timothy didn’t like her. But this was something she had no control over, so she decided to leave it to Austin to handle.
Felicia immediately shot Timothy a sharp glare. “You old fogey! What nonsense are you spouring?”
Her tone clearly indicated her dissatisfaction with him, but Timothy just pursed his lips and said nothing.
Turning back to Suzanne, Felicia forced out a laugh to try and smooth things over. “Your father–in–law is probably just nervous about meeting his daughter–in–law for the first time, Don’s mind him”
What was she supposed to do if he scared away this daughter–in–law

Suzanne merely nodded in response to what Felicia said, lowering her gaze without saying an
Timothy walked to the big couch and sat down. After briefly scanning the room, he asked in a low voice, “Where’s he?
Despite her dissatisfaction with him, Felicia still glanced toward her room and answered, “I made him go get something for me.”
Timothy said nothing more and completely ignored Suzanne.
Felicia was worried Suzanne would take it to heart, so she turned to her and changed the subject, asking, “Suzanne, do you usually like drinking tra?“”
She tried to ease the tension, worried that Suzanne would be frightened or chased off on her first visit to their home.
Suzanne understood her intentions, so she turned to her with a smile and nodded. “Yes, I do”
However, her gaze unconsciously looked up at the second floor. Why wasn’t Austin back yet?
Felicia smiled as she took Suzanne’s hand. “Come, I’ll bring you to try some of the tea leaves I have”
She hastened her pare, wanting to quickly lead Suzanne out of the room
Timothy glanced up slightly, his gaze landing on Suzanne. His cold, piercing eyes held an unmistakable chill toward her.
He had already investigated Suzanne’s background. She was a discarded existence in the Yates. How could someone like her be worthy of his son?
Compared to the Eiving room, the tea room had a much more peaceful atmosphere.
To the right of the table was a window carved with patterns of flowers and birds. Through the window, the man–made pond ourside could be seen.
A gentle breeze stirred the hanging lights propped up by the pond, making them sway slightly.
A serene ambiance was created for those who sat here to drink to
Felicia took some tea leaves out of the cabinet. As she sat down, she noticed Suzanne’s bright eyes fixed on her.
She softly said, “Mom, if..”
She faltered with her words halfway, unexpectedly trailing off
