Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Suzanne continued, “Mrs. Hall, if you don’t mind, let me handle it.”
Felicia, who had been holding the canister of tea leaves, paused for a moment. She sighed inwardly, realizing that Suzanne had been scared
However, her expression remained unchanged as she looked at Suzanne and replied, “Sure”
Suzanne took the canister of tea leaves from Felicia’s hands
She lowered her gaze and began to arrange the tea set. She moved slowly and steadily, as though Timothy’s earlier words hadn’t affected ber at all.
Her slender fingers delicately moved over the tea utensils as she performed each step with grace. From warming the cup and adding the tea leaves to pouring the water and removing the foam, every movement was deliberate and thoughtful
It was as though she were crafting a work of art. Her poise and elegance immediately captured Felicia’s attention
Nowadays, very few young people know how to properly brew tea, let alone do it with such skill. Suzanne’s expertise was clearly not learned on a whim She was truly a pleasant surprise
Just then, voices could be heard from outside the living room.
“Why did you marry such a woman?” The woman’s voice was harsh and disepproving.
Suzanne’s hand froze for an instant while she was scraping the foam oft, but it was only for a moment before she resumed her actions.
The woman’s trade didn’t stop, though. “What status does the Yates family have to be worthy of our family? You need to divorce her immediately,” the woman said, almost in a commanding tone.
Austin’s expression darkened as he turned to his elder sister, Yasmine Hall. This is my business.”
His cold voice made it clear that he was deeply displeased with Yasmine’s interference. But since Austin respected Yasmine, he didn’t intend to argue with hot.
Timothy glanced at Austin and snorted coldly, expressing his dissatisfaction, “Hmph! Your taste really seems to be getting worse with age.”
How dare a discarded daughter from the Yates family try to climb into their family’s ranks?
Felicia’s expression darkened. She instinctively glanced at Suzanne, fearing that Suzanne might simply walk out. With a worried expression, she said, Don’t listen to them, Suzanne. This is Austin’s relationship. If he likes you, no one can say otherwise. I’ll deal with them later.”
However, Suzanne calmly shook her head, cutting off Felicia’s attempt to speak further. She smiled softly and replied, “I’m fine, Mrs. Hall.”
And she meant it
The truth was, Suzanne didn’t really have much feelings for Austin at this point. Their marriage had been an impulsive decision from the start, so whether or not the Hall family accepted her didn’t trally matter to her.
In the living room, Timothy turned his gaze away from Austin and leaned back on the couch. He spoke with authority, “I’ve mentioned you to the Chapman family’s heiress. Meet with her when you have time.”
He made no effort to lower his voice, clearly intending for Suzanne to hear his words.
Felicia’s expression turned dark with anger. These people just wouldn’t quit!
But Suzanne continued her rea preparation with unhurried, graceful movements. She seemed entirely unaffected by the conversation taking place around her, as if it didn’t concern her in the slightest.
Austin’s voice was cold as he replied, “I only want Suzanne. Don’t bring up such matters again.
Suzanne’s gaze flickered for a moment. What was he…
Timothy let out a frustrated laugh. “You think you’re all grown up now?”
Both father and son were men of few words, but each word they spoke carried a powerful presence. The tension in the room was palpable. Austin’s expression was ley. He had only expected Felicia to be at home today, but unexpectedly, both Timothy and Yasmine had returned as well.
