Chapter 51
Just a single sentence and Gabriel instantly understood. He quickly nodded. “Got it. I take care of it right away
It was clear that Austin wanted him to disrupt the cooperation between the two families and cause friction between them.
Gabriel looked up at Austin, whose anger was rising His gaze faltered slightly. He had never seen Austin react this way toward a woman. It seemed like Austin really cared abour Suzanne.
The air in the office grew colder, and Gabriel shuddered. Without wasting another second, he hurriedly left the room.
Soon, Austin was the only one left in the office. He glanced at his watch and then stood up, heading out as well
As night fell, Suzanne returned to Starview Villa. She walked weary into the house
As soon as she entered, Rita approached her with a warm smille and greeted her gently, “Welcome back, Mrs. Hall. Dinner is ready.
Suzanne waved her hand dismissively and forced a smile. Her lips lacked their usual color. “I’m not hungry, Hiza. I’ll skip it
It wasn’t that she hadn’t thought to inform Rita earlier, but Austin might return tonight, and Rita had to prepare dinner as usual,
After saying that, Suzanne moved slowly toward the stairs.
Seeing her unusual demeanor, Rita rushed over and called out, “Mrs. Hall, at least have a little bit of food”
Suzanne was so thin. She shouldn’t be skipping meals like this.
Suzanne responded softly, “I’m fine.”
As a studied her pale face, concern flashed in her eyes. “Is something wrong, Mrs. Hall?”
But Suzanne had already ascended the stairs
Rita could only watch as she disappeared around the corner. She turned to look at the uneaten food on the table and let out a small sigh.
At that moment, the faint sound of the door opening echoed: Austin entered from outside and looked around the house. His eyes tell on the untouched food on the table, Frowning, he asked, “Is Suzanne not home yet?”
Rita approached, talong his coat. “Mrs. Hall is back, but she looked very pale and seemed upset.”
As she recalled Scene’s appearance earlier, her worry deepened. “I asked her, but she didn’t say anything”
Austin’s expression darkened. “Reheat the food”
He didn’t look at Rita again and made his way upstairs.
Austin opened the door to the bedroom. His eyes were immediately drawn to the balcony.
Suzanne was sitting on a wooden rocking chair. The breeze lifted the stray locks of her hair. She gazed out into the distance, her presence ethereal as it she could be swept away by the wind at any moment.
Austin watched her for a moment. Seeing that she wasn’t injured, he let out a slight sigh of relief.
His eyes grew colder. How dare Henry try to hurt her?
Suzanne glanced toward the room at the noise. When she saw him, she said, “Oh, you’re back. Do you want me to run a bath for you?”
She rose from the chair and started heading to the bathroom. However, just as she walked past Austin, he suddenly pulled her into his arms.
Suzanne froze, and her hands paused in mid–air. She wasn’t sure where to place them.
What was he doing…
Austin’s voice came from above, soft yet reassuring. You can leen on my shoulder.”
On his way back, he saw a young couple by the roadside doing the same. The young lady was deeply moved, crying uncontrollably as she hugged the men Austin had expected Suganne to be moved to tears as well.
