Chapter 63

Suzanne looked down at the incoming call, and the smile in her eyes deepened–it was Marsha.
She answered the call, and Marsha’s excited voice came through the speaker, “Babe, come out for drinks tonight! I’ve arranged a little get–together with some old friends.”
Suzanne could hear the happiness in Marsha’s voice even through the phone. “You finished handling everything already?”
Suzanne had initially planned to refuse, but a new message popped up on her phone just then.
It was a text from Austin. “I have something to do tonight. I’ll be home late.”
She paused, her fingers still gripping the phone. If Austin wasn’t coming home, there was no point in going back alone.
Besides, it had been a while since she and Marsha had properly caught up.
“Yeah. It’s been a while since we hung out. Come on. Let’s meet up,” Marsha said.
Smiling, Suzzane responded, “Alright, send me the address.”
Marsha chuckled. “I’ve got a surprise for you. I promise you’ll love it!”
Suzanne’s lips twitched as she wondered what Marsha was up to. With a smile, she replied, “Oh, I just hope it’s not a shock.”
She wasn’t the least bit surprised by anything Marsha might do, no matter how outrageous.
After a couple of teasing remarks, Marsha ended the call.
Suzanne put down her phone and glanced at Shane, signaling with her eyes. “You can get out now.”
Shane slapped his thigh in mock indignation and sprung up from his seat. “What the hell? You’re throwing me away after using me?”
What kind of friend would do that? It was outrageous!
Suzanne chuckled lightly at his theatrics, already used to his noisy nature. “Want to come with me?”
But Shane quickly shook his head in refusal. “Nah, I’ve got other things to do. Just make sure you stay safe.”
As he spoke, he was already opening the car door and stepping out. He shut the door and waved at her. “Have fun!”
Shane turned and hopped into his own car, starting it up and driving off.
Only then did Suzanne slowly start her car and make her way toward the place Marsha had arranged to meet.
Suzanne stepped inside Night Charm Bar and was immediately hit by the loud, thumping music. She frowned, not quite accustomed to the volume.
The dance floor was packed with men and women moving to the rhythm and letting loose without care.
Suzanne glanced at the scene, then headed straight for the upstairs private room where Marsha was waiting.
She pushed open the door, and the sight of eight people inside greeted her. A few of them looked up as she entered.
At one glance, Suzanne immediately spotted Jenson sitting in the corner. Her heart skipped a beat, and any joy she had felt earlier instantly faded away.
Of course, it had to be him.
So this was the “surprise” Marsha had been talking about?
At that moment, Marsha, dressed in a sultry, short skirt, waved at Suzanne. “Come sit with me, babe.”
Jenson, who had been drinking, looked up as Suzanne entered. The moment he saw her, his eyes turned cold.
He thought that Suzanne had asked Marsha to set this up. She really went out of her way to grab his attention.
The others in the room also turned their gaze toward Suzanne. They greeted her with smiles, “It’s been so long, Suzanne!”
“Yeah, Suzanne, you’re getting more and more beautiful,” Suzanne smiled graciously and responded to each greeting.
