At 6:30 pm, Simon stood at the entrance of Evercoast Hotel.
Guests had begun arriving as scheduled, most of them being closer friends of both him and
Luma.
However, there was still no sign of Luma.
As Simon pulled out his phone and called her, a cold, automated female voice answered, Sorry, the number you dialed is not in service.”
Frowning deeply, Simon felt a sense of unease rise within him.
Was Luna angry and refusing to attend the birthday party tonight?
Clenching his phone tightly: Simon recalled the events earlier that day.
During lunch, Sophie had sent him a message about how she was bleeding. Concerned, he left Luna behind and rushed Sophie to the hospital.
At the hospital, the doctor explained that Sophie’s condition was caused by emotional distress, which had triggered early signs of complications. The doctor advised Simon to take better care of her emotional well–being.
Since it was Luna’s birthday today, Simon intended to settle Sophie at the hospital and return to be with Luna.
However, Sophie clung to Simon relentlessly in the ward. She placed his hand on her belly and pouted, whining, “The baby wants Daddy to stay. Please keep us company, okay?”
Simon’s expression turned cold as he refused, “No, I can’t. It’s Lulu’s birthday today. I have to spend it with her.”
But just as he was about to leave, Sophie curled up on the hospital bed, her petite body trembling. She began crying out, “My stomach hurts so much! It hurts!”
In the end, Simon relented, and he stayed with Sophie the entire afternoon. Only when the evening party was about to begin did he manage to coax Sophie, promising her a surprise later that night.
She only let him leave then.
However, when Simon rushed to Evercoast Hotel, he found that he couldn’t reach Luna.
“Lulu, why is your phone off?” he muttered anxiously. He dialed her number repeatedly, but each time, the automated response mentioned her phone was switched off.
Susanna, who had been waiting nearby for a long time, finally approached him. Glancing at the time, she walked up to Simon with the gift box labeled “Second Wedding Gift“.
