“A car accident?” Luna frowned, pondering for a moment before nodding in agreement with Horace’s suggestion.
Her recent routine had been cautious and predictable, with little opportunity for Hunter to act against her. Tampering with her car would indeed be the simplest and most feasible option for him.
But…
“How do I get him to tamper with my car?” she inquired.
Horace’s lips curled into a smile. “Leave it to me

“Thank you,” Luna uttered gratefully.
The next afternoon, Hunter, frustrated at still not having a chance to act against Luna, drove back to the apartment complex he was renting and decided to eat at a nearby restaurant.
As soon as he ordered, two foreign men wearing black caps walked into the restaurant.
The similar–looking men appeared to be brothers. Both were tall and muscular, with large tattoos covering their wrists and necks. From a distance or up close, they didn’t look like the kind of people to mess with.
They sat at the table next to Hunter’s and casually threw a backpack containing tools onto the chair beside them. Then, in low voices, they began speaking in Naavean.
“This job will keep us fed for half a year,” said the older man, William Sr., who looked to be around 40 years old.
He opened a bottle of beer and took a long swig, the liquid disappearing down his throat with
ease.
Across from him sat a younger man, William Jr., who appeared to be around 28. Rolling up his sleeves, he clinked bottles with William Sr. and drank without restraint.
“That car we tampered with will definitely crash today with this rain. That poor kid won’t survive once he gets behind the wheel.” William Jr. paused and shook his head. “Honestly, stepmothers shouldn’t be trusted. They act all sweet to the kid for the first couple of years, but as soon as the kid turns 18 and gets their driver’s license, they can’t wait to get rid of them.”
Nearby, Hunter’s dark eyes flickered with thought as a plan began to form in his mind. He itched to approach the two men, but he hesitated as he couldn’t find the right moment.
William Sr. squinted and added another jab. “If it weren’t for these evil people, how are we supposed to make our money?”
William Jr. nodded, chuckling coldly. “The more of them, the better. A few more jobs like this, and we can call it quits.”
At that moment, Hunter couldn’t sit still any longer. He got up and walked over to their table, sitting down with a friendly smile.
“Gentlemen, this meal is on me. I’d like to ask for your help with something.”
William Sr. immediately grew wary. “Do we know you?” he asked, unfriendly.
Hunter shook his head, forcing a grin. “No, but I do have a favor to ask. As they say, fate is the reason people meet. You’ve already taken on one job, so why not do a second while you’re at It? A little extra work won’t hurt.”
Pausing for effect, Hunter put on a wider smile. Whatever your ex–employer paid you for the last job, I’ll pay double.”

William Sr. and William Jr. exchanged glances. After a moment, William Sr. frowned but eventually gritted his teeth and nodded. “Deal! Money’s money, no matter who it comes from
Hearing that, Hunter breathed a sigh of relief and raised his beer to toast the men.
The three talked for about half an hour before Hunter showed them a photo of Luna, providing details. Satisfied, he finally left the restaurant.
As soon as Hunter was out the door, William Sr. exited the restaurant and got into his car.
He pulled out his phone and called Horace, reporting, “Mr. Lancaster, Hunter took the bait.”
Sitting at his desk, Horace twirled a pen in his hand. “What did he say?” he asked.
William Sr. relayed Hunter’s plan in detail, leaving nothing out.
