Chapter 85
After getting up, Alan walked toward Suzanne.
Before he could speak, Suzanne assessed him and said, “You seem to be recovering well.”
Alan raised his sharp brows before smirking lightly. “Dr. Smith, please come in.”
With a nod, Suzanne followed Alan inside.
Inside, Alan turned to Suzanne, politely asking, “Shall we have some tea first?”
Shaking her head, Suzanne declined, “No need. Let’s start right away.”
The sooner they finished, the sooner she could leave.
She glanced around the living room and, seeing no one else in the house, pointed to the couch in the living room. “We can do it here today.” Without waiting for Alan to respond, Suzanne had already taken out her box of silver needles,
As his gaze lingered on the silver needle box in her bands, Alan hesitated briefly before agreeing
After heading over to the couch, he sat down and took off his shirt.
Suzanne glanced over, sterilizing the needles before picking one up. When her fingers touched Alan’s spine, his body instinctively tensed. With a smirk, she remarked, “It won’t hurt as much today.”
Alan was at a loss. This woman was mocking him again! He wasn’t afraid of pain –
-it was just
just a reflex.
After speaking, Suzanne began inserting the needles. This time, her pace was slow, and she left about a minute between each insertion. Even though she claimed it wouldn’t hurt as much, it still did.
His entire body felt like it had ants were gnawing on it. It was itchy and painful, but Alan maintained a calm expression.
As his thin lips parted, he said meaningfully, “Dr. Smith’s real last name is Yates.”
Suzanne’s hand, which was holding the needle, briefly paused before she continued her work, ignoring him.
Alan felt the discomfort in his body intensify slightly. However, it wasn’t that noticeable, so he didn’t care too much about it.
After a brief pause, he piped up, “Suzanne.” He then said, “The daughter of the Yates family,”
Furrowing her brow, Suzanne slowed her movements as she looked at him. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
It wasn’t surprising that Alan knew her personal information.
She didn’t really tr
dy try to keep it a secret after all. Finding such information was as easy as pie for someone with the Alvarez family’s resources. Alari caught Suzanne’s impatience and got straight to the point. “Enter into a marriage of convenience with me.”
Suzanne’s hand froze, and the needle went in crookedly.
“Ugh!” Alan hissed in pain, his hand clenching tightly as he almost lost it.
Raising a brow, Suzanne calmly removed the needle and inserted it again correctly.
Alan only continued when the sharp pain in his body subsided, “I know about your situation. Marrying me will help you get out of your predicament.” Suzanne’s brow twitched. “That won’t be necessary.”
She already had one man at home who was still upset. If Alan got involved, too, her life would become too chaotic.
Alan assumed she was just being shy. Raising his brow, he continued to persuade her, “With the Alvarez family backing you, no one would dare harm you.
His tone was calm but earnest, almost like he was earnestly reasoning with her.
When Alan learned how the Yates family had treated Suzanne, he found it ridiculous. They should have treated her like royalty with her title as “Dr. Jane Smith” alone.
He didn’t think the Yates family was so blin
