“Oh? Are you saying none of us here are worthy of good wine?” I continued, my gaze sweeping over everyone in the room.
Lily was only targeting me, but her guilty eyes darted around. She could only laugh awkwardly, trying to cover up her unease and dissatisfaction. Fortunately, the others didn’t pay too much attention to our argument and kept talking about other topics.
“Well, I recognize that necklace. It’s a custom design, there’s only one. If you want to buy a necklace, don’t get a fake, it’s embarrassing to wear a fake necklace.” Lily suddenly found a new target and pointed at my necklace.
“Yes, I think you look a lot better now. I’m so jealous.” I looked at her nose, which was translucent under the light.
“Of course.” She thought I was complimenting her and smiled smugly.
“She must have had a surgery done on her nose, it looks much better. That would definitely cost a lot of money,” a classmate beside me whispered in my ear, teasingly.
“She’s rich, she doesn’t care about that,” I responded, continuing to mock Lily.
“You…” Lily heard but didn’t know what to say.
A manager in a suit entered the room, holding a delicate tray with two bottles of precious wine. “This is the 1990 Romanee–Conti and Remy Martin, please enjoy.”
“We didn’t order these.” Jonny was surprised and looked at Lily, clearly confused by the unexpected wine and liquor.
“This is from Mr. Jason. He hopes Ms. Laura has a pleasant gathering,” the manager explained respectfully, smiling at me. I was also taken aback.
The classmates around me looked at me with surprise and envy, starting to get closer to me. “Isn’t Jason that big investor? Do you know him?”
“He’s not pursuing you, is he? Sending such expensive liquor to make you look good in front of us.”
More classmates started asking, clearly curious about my relationship with Jason. ‘ How did you get to know him? He must be really handsome in person.”
“Laura, can you share his contact info with me?”

Jonny forced a fake smile.
This class reunion really was quite expensive. I felt very satisfied deep down.
