She slapped Rick across the face. He didn’t dodge, but there was resentment in his
eyes.
“Mom, if it weren’t for you insisting on having a grandson, would I have gone to find Helen? I was just trying to make you happy.”
Judith, hearing this, trembled with even more rage, pointing her finger at Rick. Her voice nearly broke as she said, “You’re still blaming me? Haven’t I just wanted you to have children and a happy family? Everything I’ve done was for your good!”
“I’m a grown man. I can take care of myself and you’re interfering too much,” Rick retorted.
“Your father died young. If I hadn’t raised you, would you be who you are today? Is this how you repay me?” cried Judith, tears streaming down her face. “Unfilial son, unfilial son! How could I have given birth to a son like you?”
People around us gathered to watch their drama.
“Mom, don’t listen to her, she’s trying to drive a wedge between us.”
Rick realized something was wrong and turned the blame toward me.
“You shameless woman! If it weren’t for you, how could I have been tricked by Helen? It’s all your fault!”
He raised his hand as if to slap me.
Jason quickly stepped in front of me, grabbed his hand, and shoved it aside.
Rick cried out in pain.
Jason coldly glared at Rick. “Mr. Clinton, please mind your words and actions. This is a hospital, not a place for you to act out.”
“You sold yourself to cling to a rich man, you’re really shameless. I didn’t expect someone like you to be protected by a big shot like him.‘
Jason grabbed Rick’s collar and shoved him against the wall. “You think I don’t know what kind of person she is? Watch your mouth, you might bite your tongue later. And by the way, Laura has made her own way. If she hadn’t married you, her career would be more successful than yours. Also, our affairs have nothing to do with you, please stop talking nonsense.”
Jason let
go, his tone firm and powerful, causing Rick to take a step back involuntarily.

Rick struggled free and shot me a hateful glare.
I looked at both Judith and Rick, a cold smile tugging at my lips. “You two should really think about who the real culprit is. Stop blaming others.”
With that, I took Jason’s hand and walked out of the hospital without looking back, leaving them standing there, staring at each other, embarrassed and defeated.
