After the matter was resolved, I called Jason.
Considering that Jason had been taking care of me when I was sick last time, I planned to cook a big meal to reward him this time.
After work, he picked me up and we went to the supermarket together.
I accidentally bumped into Helen at the corner of the supermarket, and she was walking alongside another man.
“Isn’t that your ex–husband’s mistress?” Jason gently tapped my arm, signaling me to pay attention.
At first, I didn’t notice, but after Jason’s reminder, I saw her and looked a little longer to confirm, “It’s her.”
“What’s her relationship with this man?” Jason asked in a low voice. He also noticed the unfamiliar man beside Helen. Their behavior was intimate, and they occasionally exchanged smiles. There was an unspoken closeness in the air.
The man called Helen “baby,” which didn’t sound like something one would say to a sibling.
“My god, could he be the father of the baby in Helen’s womb?”
“Maybe.”
Before we could leave, Helen spotted us first.
With a smile that was almost provocative, ‘she walked toward us, showing no attempt to hide anything. “Did you see that? I was just playing around with Rick. I don’t like him. He was the one who pursued me. I just got some money from him. Even before he divorced you, he was often with other women. I was just one of them.
She hooked her arm around the man beside her and smiled happily.
“Thanks to you, he already knows the baby in my womb isn’t his. We’ve already broken up. He’s in debt and still wants me to help him pay it back. What a hopeless dream.” Helen continued, her tone filled with relief and mockery, “He should have been looking for me, but I won’t get involved with him anymore. I’m about to leave.”
“You ran off with the money, and he didn’t call the police?” I smirked.

Helen wasn’t concerned. She glanced at the man. “Him? He’s done plenty of shady things. Do you think he’d dare report me? Even if he knows where I am, he wouldn’t dare come after me.
