The person who had zero clue was Bradley.
I sensed a resentful gaze on me almost immediately. I could tell where it was coming from without even looking.
At that very moment, Chad raised his glass and began, “We, the Garvins, will be celebrating a wonderful occasion soon. The main reason we’re having a family dinner tonight is to discuss the couple’s upcoming wedding.”
Before Chad could finish his speech, Bradley butted in, “Dad, you don’t have to
worry about it. As for the marriage certificate… We’ve already received it. Right, Julia?

He signaled to me with a glance to go along with his statement.
I took a sip of water and remained silent. I kept thinking about what he just said.
“He and Jenna… They’ve gotten their marriage certificate?” I pondered.
Bradley’s expression hardened visibly when I did not cooperate with him. His eyes blazed with anger.
My phone rang again. Bradley had sent me a series of messages.
“Julia, are you mute? Say something already!”
“Why are you keeping quiet? Stop testing my patience!”
A small frown creased my forehead. My eyes reflected my annoyance. I pressed the button to block his number the next instant.
