Someone pushed me.
Turning back, I saw a large bloodstain on the ground. The blood belonged to Anthony. Both his hands were drenched in it, and his eyes reddened as he looked at me. “Celine, I’m in pain…”
I froze, suddenly in a trance, remembering a time years ago when he cut his finger while insisting on cooking for me. Back then, he had looked at me with the same pitiful expression. But this time, I didn’t reach out to hold his hand or bandage his wounds. I wasn’t that person anymore.
I hurried to Hugo, checking him over for injuries. Thankfully, he only had a few minor scratches.
The scene around us descended into chaos as someone called for an ambulance. Anthony’s eyes were filled with longing, but I didn’t even glance at him again. He was soon taken away.
Despite the disruption, the wedding continued and managed to maintain order until the end.
After that day, I didn’t see Anthony again for a long time.
I heard rumors that the head of the Leeman family had locked him up. They said he had tried to take his own life multiple times but was rescued each time.
Later, I heard the Leeman patriarch had sent Sonia to speak with Anthony and cheer him up. However, Anthony reportedly lashed out at her, leaving her beaten and humiliated. Sonia endured his wrath for a long time before falling ill herself.
I didn’t concern myself with these matters. I simply moved on with my life.
It was my birthday again. Hugo wanted to throw me a grand celebration, but I insisted on keeping it simple. In the end, I baked a cake myself. This time, it turned out perfect on the first try.
Feeling content, I took a photo of the cake and posted it on Facebook.
Anthony liked the post.
That was when I learned a little about Anthony’s current situation.
After sobering up, Anthony had swiftly taken control of the Leeman family,
becoming the head of the Leeman Group. Gossip about him circulated in the industry
