business. In our previous life, the Garvin family would have gone bankrupt early on if I had not helped him manage the company.
Yet, Bradley took all the credit for our business‘ success and thought that it was only possible because of his efforts.
Without the Garvin family’s support now, Bradley was nothing more than someone who talked big but had no real capabilities. In just two weeks, his company announced its bankruptcy.
Since then, no one in Jalenos had heard of him.
Meanwhile, Terrence had relocated his business back to our country. Soon enough, he became one of the richest men in Jalenos
After a party ended one day, Terrence, who had gotten a bit tipsy after a few drinks, whispered next to my ear.
“Julia… Actually, we met a long time ago. Back then, my sister and I just moved into the Garvin residence. The other kids would bully me and say that I was an unwanted child who had no mom or dad.
“Only one girl would stand in front of me and help me chase away those kids. She even gave me one of the two lollipops she had to cheer me up. At the time, I swore to myself that I would marry her when I grew up. I would buy her lots of lollipops.”
I could not hold back the emotions surging through me anymore. I threw my arms around him.
At the time, Jenna and her mother had just moved into our house. My father’s preferential treatment and my stepmother’s indifference were like sharp thorns that pierced my heart.
I never thought Terrence would remember what happened back then till this day.
He pressed his lips against the top of my head and said, “I was really scared when I found out that you liked Bradley. So, I made preparations for it.
“If the two of you got married, I would invest all of my money and assets in the Garvin family’s business. My biggest wish was for you to be well and happy.”
I only realized then that I did not bring the Garvin family good luck. Instead, Terrence was the one who brought me good luck.
I stood on my toes and kissed Terrence’s lips.
A faint voice was carried along with the light breeze.
