Sean had not given up after that. He tried various means to track me down. At one point, he even traveled to the headquarters of the organization I had joined. As expected, he did not manage to obtain any information from them.
The world was a vast place. It was rather impossible to find someone, especially when they had renounced their citizenship.
Eventually, Sean crumbled in despair. It did not take long for him to end up in a disheveled and dispirited state.
He even started to pay less attention to his research and lecture classes, which he used to be passionate about. He felt that he could no longer let things go on like this. He was not helping the students with their studies at all.
Sean felt indignant. He knew that the love he had for me was something ingrained deep within his soul. He could not bear to part with me. So, the only way for him to fix his miserable life was to find me.
I was the only one who could save him.
Sean resigned from his job at the college and applied to become a volunteer in providing humanitarian assistance. He traveled to various places around the world, where they might be experiencing war, epidemic, or natural disasters.
He went everywhere where they might have doctors working with them. He believed that even the heavens would be moved by his sincerity someday.
Three months later, Sean was helping with moving some supplies within an area in Agora that had just recently been affected by an earthquake. The team Sean had been assigned to was dispatched here to provide assistance.
Suddenly, Sean picked up on a familiar voice.
“Victor, your hand is injured. I can move these things. You should get some rest instead.”
“It’s just a graze. It’s not that bad. You, on the other hand, haven’t slept for days, right? I can see dark shadows under your eyes. You should go and get some sleep in the tent.”
“Maisie, we have the wounded over here.”
Sean looked in the direction of the voice. He could see the person he had been longing to meet every day before his eyes.
His eyes were red. Sean could not hear or see anything else around him. The only thing he could see was me. His steps quickened as his hands balled into fists.
