Whatever happened at the wedding had completely caught Archer off guard. This was also the first time something had gone completely out of his control.
The night before the wedding, he’d gone out drinking with his friends. He even taunted them, saying that he had married the best woman in the world.
“You’re so lucky, Arch. If only we could find a woman who refused to give up on us like your wife!”
Archer had then said, “Selene is just a weak woman. She can’t survive on her own without me. Also, she’s pregnant now, so there’s no point in her arguing with me now. The only person getting hurt will be herself.”
“Arch, you know you can’t say that. Selene’s only putting up with you because she loves you. If you keep hurting her like this, you’ll regret it one day.”
As it turned out, what his friends said had come true. At least, that was the first thought that came to mind when Archer saw my figure leaving the wedding hall.
He felt as though something had completely slipped through his hands. He couldn’t grab onto it anymore. He suddenly felt a strong surge of fear and insecurity.
Meanwhile, Jacklyn kept calling his name next to him, “Archie? Archie!”
However, what used to be Archer’s favorite nickname from her suddenly turned into a piercing sound loudly buzzing in his ears.
