However, things wouldn’t stay peaceful and mundane for long. Soon, I ran into my first massive problem–money.
Although Marley kept telling me that I didn’t have to worry about it, I still told him seriously, “Marley, I want to have an equal relationship with you. I don’t want to have to rely on you and leech off of you in this relationship.”
Marley just nodded silently, without a word.
I recalled the times back in Crenia when I used to be the lead jewelry designer in Nolan Group. I still had some leftover design sketches from back then. I just didn’t know if there’d be any potential market in Ferris for them now.
I sold the sketches.
Surprisingly, the person I sold the designs to, Tony Luke, liked my designs very much and admired my talent. He even offered me a position at his company, Luxe Co., as their long–term jewelry designer.

I rejected his offer politely, telling him that I was no longer interested in designing jewelry. But when he heard that I was now doing fashion design, he sounded even more interested in me.
Tony handed me his business card and told me that I could contact him whenever I wanted if I wanted to look for a job next time.
I heaved a small sigh of relief after having solved my cash flow problem for the time being. However, when flipping through some of my older designs, I suddenly felt a little taken aback. One of the designs was for a pair of wedding bands–the one that I designed for my wedding to Archer.
But now, I had to wipe out this sweet memory of mine from my life forever for survival.
Marley suddenly came up behind me and covered my eyes. “Guess who?”
I laughed and grabbed him by his wrists. “Marley the puppy!”
Marley harrumphed, “I’m not a puppy!”
He then hugged me tightly from the back. “You’ve been so busy thinking about money these few days that you seem to have forgotten all about me,” he complained.
I patted his hair, feeling a little sorry for him. “Alright, Pups. Did that make you upset? I won’t do that again next time.”
Marley then nuzzled against my neck and said, “You can’t lie to me! You have to make your promises count!”
