Mandy realized Edwin was not going to help, so she turned to her mom.
“Mom, just look at what Edwin and his wife are doing to mel Are you just going to watch them destroy my family?”
Her mom actually felt sorry for her and looked at me with hopeful eyes.
I gave a small smile. “Sure, if you can make up for the jewelry you owe me, we might be able to settle this. But do you have 60 thousand dollars?”
When my mother–in–law heard that, her eyes rolled back, and she pretended to fairit. She had already spent 15 thousand dollars of her savings, so there was no way she could pay more.
Mandy was so mad that she went into early labor. She was rushed to the hospital that night and fortunately, avoided a disaster.
Her in–laws never showed up, and David was not picked up by the police from the gambling table until
sunrise.
She was okay, but David was in deep trouble. David had gambled away everything they owned, so there was no way he could pay back what he owed. In the end, he had to choose between jail or selling their house to pay me back.
To save Jared, David’s family had to sell their home and move into a tiny, run–down place. That was why they all blamed Mandy, and she even got abused after she came back from the hospital.
Crying her eyes out, she showed up at my place with her two kids, looking for a place to stay.
