“Julian,” Nina called out softly.
Just hearing her say his name made Julian the man renowned as a business tycoon–break down like a child.
“Nina… Nina…” He sobbed.
I didn’t want to disturb Julian and Nina, so I quietly stepped out of the room. Simon was standing in the hallway. He was basking in the sunlight. I then walked over and called his name.
He turned to me with a smile. “Did Mr. Stewart cry out embarrassingly?”
I shook my head. “Not really. He just loves my sister too much.”
“Mr. Stewart loves Mrs. Stewart deeply. That kind of love is something to be envied,” he said.
I nodded in agreement,
After hesitating for a while, I couldn’t stop myself from asking, “Simon, can you tell me what happened to my parents… I mean, the Gage family?”
“They were sent to prison,” he replied.
“What?” I was taken aback by the answer.
Simon seemed to catch on to my confusion and chuckled. “Did you really think we were some kind of mafia?”
Embarrassed, I said, “That’s not what I meant.”
“But, if Mrs. Stewart hadn’t survived, they likely wouldn’t be alive right now,” he added as his eyes flashed with a hint of darkness.
Later, I learned the truth. Although Madison and Bellamy weren’t killed, they were tortured so badly that there wasn’t an intact patch of skin left on them. Their limbs were severed, and they were rendered
mute.
When they were found, they were crawling in a pigsty in a rural village. Being in such an isolated area, no one knew who the culprits were.
The day after they were rescued, the truth about Nina’s attempted murder spread across the media.
Estel’s self–orchestrated scheme quickly went viral, and the public exploded in outrage. People condemned her for stooping to such despicable levels for attention.
With the overwhelming public outcry, Madison and Bellamy were arrested and sentenced to prison. While everyone was focused on condemning the incident, no one seemed to notice that Estel had disappeared.
Some speculated that she fled abroad when the plan fell apart. Others believed she had committed suicide.
Simon refused to reveal her whereabouts, simply advising me not to ask questions I didn’t need answers to. But I had my own suspicions.

With Nina being Rh–negative, she was lucky to survive this time, but what about next time?
Julian valued anyone with Rh–negative blood, so I doubted Estel had disappeared. She was likely being held captive, treated as nothing more than a living blood source.
However, knowing Julian, he wouldn’t let someone who hurt Nina live comfortably. Estel was probably being fed and cared for just enough to stay alive while enduring endless suffering.
He would ensure she lived a life where she couldn’t die, nor truly live.
Her only way out would be if Julian died or went bankrupt–neither of which seemed likely anytime soon. Seeing Julian and Nina so deeply in love, it seemed Estel’s nightmare might last decades.
After Nina recovered, she brought me back to the Knight family. The Knight family was wealthy—not as extravagant as Julian’s–but still a prominent household.
Once we returned, my biological parents, seeking to make up for lost time, transferred all their assets to
- me.
The day I officially became part of a wealthy family, I asked Simon to pass a message to Estel. I wanted him to tell her about my current life.
Simon was surprised and asked, “Why would you…”
But then he smiled gently and said, “I will.”
After all, destroying someone emotionally was the cruelest form of revenge. I knew Estel wouldn’t take the news well.
