Nash was at a loss as he tried to comfort me for a long time. When he saw that I was still crying, he went to get his stickers. He gently touched my hair and said, “It’s okay, we can cover it with stickers.” He held my hand, and together we applied the stickers. Then he hooked his little finger with mine and said very seriously, “This is our little secret. We can’t tell the adults, okay? Let’s pinky promise that we won’t change for a hundred years.”
Steve noticed my distraction and asked with a smile, “Can you play the piano too?”
1 pointed at the piano. “I was an arts student in my freshman and sophomore years, and I learned to
play the piano. But I didn’t want to continue, so I switched to regular courses later.”
Steve, who was tall and had long limbs, praised me for one of my strengths, making me feel
embarrassed. I pushed him towards the seats. “Alright, stop with the sweet talk. If you want, I can play for you another day.”
As I nudged the tall and lanky Steve along, he didn’t mind and continued to chat, “What about drawing? Can you do that too?”
“I can’t, but I used to know someone who was really good at it.”
Steve looked at me with a mischievous smile. “It just so happens that the of this restaurant is my
friend. He’s also good at drawing. However, he injured his hand. I used to joke with him that if his hand hadn’t been injured, he would be really talented by now.”
I was stunned. Injured hand? Drawing? All these elements combined, and I couldn’t help but think of
Nash.
“Your friend?”
Steve pointed behind me, “Yes, he’s the owner of this restaurant.”
