“Really? Maybe it’s just that jealousy looks terrible on you. Are you sure you want to keep wearing it?”
Steve clenched his teeth and stopped the car by the roadside, grabbing my face firmly.
I initiated a kiss. “Don’t worry, Nash didn’t come.”
When I arrived at the doorstep of my house, I saw Nash slumped on my porch. Just like the night he asked me to call Yvonne for him.
“You’re back”
Nash shook the bottle of alcohol in his hand, his eyes glazed. “Wendy, you said I would regret it back then. I said I would never regret it.”
He hung his head, his voice trembling uncontrollably. But I regret it now. I never expected that the life I wanted would turn out to be so unbearable! Now I realize how much you helped me. I regret how I treated you. If Yvonne had died, if all these things hadn’t happened, would you be with me? Why didn’t you stop me? You liked me, didn’t you? Why didn’t you stop me?”
As he spoke, he tried to come closer and embrace me but I forcefully kicked him away with one foot.
I fell into a warm embrace, enveloped by the familiar scent of sandalwood that immediately put me at
ease.
“Nash, I’ll say it again, this is the life you’ve chosen for yourself. And no matter what choices you make,
someone as despicable as you will never find happiness. There’s a somewhat melodramatic saying, but I’d like to share it with you: You’ve picked your road, so you must journey it, even if it means crawling on your knees.”
Nash slumped on the ground, tears streaming down his face.
However, not long after, I unexpectedly learned the latest news about Nash and Yvonne. It turned out Yvonne had gotten involved with a wealthy man, but this man couldn’t father any children. So, Yvonne remembered the son Nash was raising
Of course, the Xander family wouldn’t willingly hand the child over. So, Yvonne dropped a bombshell the child wasn’t Nash’s at all. Nash immediately had a paternity test done, which indeed showed they had no blood relation.
Nash went mad on the spot, grabbing a pair of scissors and stabbing Yvonne, all while shouting that he had given up everything for her. If it weren’t for her, he could have become an internationally renowned artist. Instead, she had treated him this way.
The police took away Nash’s scissors and arrested him. However, due to Yvonne’s minor injuries and the Xander family’s bribery, Nash was released not long after.
Reading the entire news story left my mouth twitching, I couldn’t believe such a melodramatic
c story was real. I had always thought these two people, who were so entangled with each other, were in love.
I turned off my phone, letting out a long sigh. The pent–up frustration in my chest finally dissipated.
