Patricia would often drop hints to Martin, telling him to keep his guard up against me. He left all of the spare money he had in Whitney’s care. Thus, Patricia and Daniel deserved the outcome they got.
Still, when I recalled Martin buying Whitney an Hermes bag in my previous life, I was still filled with anger. I wanted to make sure that even if Martin and Whitney got out of prison, they would continue to suffer for the rest of their lives!
Back when the situation with Martin started circling around, Whitney lost her job. I also gave the court all of the evidence the private investigators gathered on my behalf.
The court ruled that the money Martin had transferred away was marital property. He had no right to give it away to Whitney. She needed to return everything she received from him.
When I saw her at the detention center, she looked like she wanted to murder me. She screamed at the top of her lungs, “Why should I give it back to you? Martin gave the money to me! What gives you the right to take it away from me?”
Dressed in a limited edition outfit and carrying Whitney’s favorite designer bag, I smirked and said,

Why? Because you’re nothing but his mistress! You should’ve seen this coming when you and Martin teamed up to ruin my life! In fact, this is nothing compared to what you truly deserve.”
Whitney wanted to continue screaming at me. She even tried to lunge at me, but she was forced to sit back down.
Meanwhile, Martin tearfully expressed his regrets to me. “I know I made a mistake, Louise. I know I’ve made a horrible mistake! Don’t worry. I’ll cut off all ties with that bitch. Wait for me, okay? Once I get out, we’ll be a family again, alright?”
“Nope. That’s not alright,” I said while shaking my head. “You’re not good enough for me, Martin! Since you like claiming to be in prison so much, you should stay there for the rest of your life!”
As I got up to leave, Martin abruptly widened his eyes in shock. A thought occurred to him, and he yelled at me, “It was you, wasn’t it? It has to be! You set this whole thing up, Louise, you bitch!”
“Hah!”
Snorting, I retorted, “I set you up? What goes around comes around, Martin. You did this to yourself. You’re paying the price for your actions. Farewell. Hope you have a good life in prison.”
I ended my words with a smile.
After leaving, I rushed to Whitney’s house to look for my daughter, Violet.
When she saw me, she shrank back in fear and ran into the house. I could see the red streaks all over her body. It was a mix of old scars that hadn’t fully healed as well as new ones. The sight of her made me break out in tears.
Violet was my child. After switching the babies, Whitney constantly abused her while Whitney’s son, Daniel, got to live like a king in my house.
She was deplorable!
I shakily approached Violet, but she instinctively got on her knees and begged, “I’m sorry, Mom. I won’t eat the eggs ever again. Please don’t hit me.”
My heart broke as I said gently, “It’s me, sweetheart. I’ve come for you. Come home with me.”
Violet looked up at me dazedly. After explaining the truth to her, I bought two tickets and took her away to a different city, giving both of us a better life there.
Patricia was stupefied! She didn’t think I would actually be willing to abandon Daniel and leave on my own. Outraged, she searched everywhere for me, to no avail. In the end, she had no choice but to move around with Daniel as they hid from the debt collectors.
Alas, those men weren’t people to be trifled with. Eventually, she was summoned to court. Not only did she have to repay the debt in its entirety, but she even had to pay additional interest.
Patricia went to see Martin, but he already had to provide financial compensation to the family of his victim, so he had no money for her. After getting into a huge fight that culminated in both of them resenting the other, they decided to cut all ties with each other.
When the debt collectors broke one of Patricia’s fingers, she finally came to her senses and slaved away

all day long to repay the debt.
Meanwhile, after I’d ridden myself of those leeches, my life became smooth sailing. Since I was financially independent and didn’t have a husband or anything else to bog me down, I often went on holiday with Violet.
Thanks to my pampering, she slowly moved on from her nightmarish childhood. Her face filled out, and she gained a healthy glow.9
Once, when we were dining at a restaurant, Violet did an impromptu ballet performance to the music being played. It garnered her a round of applause from everyone.
A few minutes later, a teenage boy dressed in tattered clothing approached the restaurant with an empty bowl, asking for some food, but he was driven off. All he could do was plaster his face against the window and reminisce about the life he used to lead, in which he always got everything he wanted.
He and his grandmother ran into each other at the same trash can, and they ended up brawling over an apple they found.
Meanwhile, I raised a glass to Violet and said, “Happy 18th birthday, sweetheart.”
“Thanks, Mommy,” she replied with a brilliant smile that echoed the warm sunlight that shone through the window.
The End.
