Jared’s stubble was showing, his hair was a mess, and his wrinkled clothes left no doubt that he had rushed over.
In my memories, he had always been calm and collected. This was the first time I had ever seen him so ruffled.

My scars had just healed. To have him rip them open now infuriated me.

Years of bottled–up pain erupted, and tears spilled from my eyes.
