Chapter 5
Patrick drove toward Christy‘ s residence, his heart tightening with unease.
There was a nagging feeling deep inside- something important was slipping away from him, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
His mind kept returning to Lora‘ s expression earlier, sensing something was off but unable to define it.
It wasn’t until he arrived at Christy‘ s house that the feeling persisted, stronger than before.
Christy was still angry, her temper flaring.
In the past, Patrick had found this fiery side of Christy lively and charming, drawn to her youthful energy.
Now, however, there was an unfamiliar irritation gnawing at him.
Unlike before, he didn’t try to comfort

her but handed her the box without a
word.
Christy’s eyes brightened as she opened it, and a smile spread across her face.
“I knew you were the best, uncle! I’ll wear it and show you!”
It was the first time Patrick felt that the girl in front of him was incredibly
materialistic, though he had willingly spent time on her before. The high–end
apartment she now lived in was one of the many gifts he had given her.
However, her reaction to the top yellow diamond necklace earlier left him deeply unsettled.
Christy was only eighteen, and she struggled to hide her true emotions.
She appeared genuinely excited only when faced with expensive gifts, though she managed to feign happiness for smaller, ordinary presents.

But Lora was different.
Lora also appreciated the expensive gifts he gave her, but what truly mattered to her were the simple, heartfelt gestures he made.
Suddenly, Patrick realized that Christy didn’t seem to love him as deeply as she claimed.
Christy rushed excitedly to the bedroom with the jewelry box in hand.
“Uncle, wait for me! I’ll go put on the new battle robe and match it!”
Patrick‘ s irritation reached its peak, and he nearly left to find Lora.
Just as he was about to step away, Christy quickly emerged, her breathless excitement halting him.
She wore a flowing purple long skirt, the thin silk draping her figure beautifully. It didn’t look cheap. As she walked, the fabric shifted gracefully, adding an

ethereal quality to her youthful beauty.
Patrick felt a surge of heat rush to his head.
What should have been just a simple set of pajamas with a charming touch now felt entirely different. On an 18–year–old girl with a youthful aura, it created an overwhelming contrast.
Every nerve in his body seemed to ignite, and before he could stop himself, he carried her to bed in the bedroom.
Moments earlier, he had placed the yellow diamond necklace around her delicate neck with his own hands. In the next instant, Lora faded from his mind entirely.
Two hours later, Patrick sat up from the bed, a lingering sense of emptiness washing over him.
He dressed quickly, preparing to leave. But just as he moved, Christy grabbed his wrist and refused to let go.
