I thought it was James, but suddenly the document was snatched from my hands.
Sophie angrily threw the proposal aside, glaring at me. “Why are you here? Didn’t you quit?”
Her entitled attitude made her seem like she owned the place.
Seeing my silence, she smirked. “Don’t tell me you heard about me and James, and you’re here to make a scene?”
“But let me tell you, you’ve lost your chance. Everyone online knows James is marrying me. If you try anything now, you’ll be the other woman.”
James walked in with coffee, frowning. “Why are you here? Stop spreading nonsense.”
Sophie immediately ran to his side, clinging to his arm with a pout. “Because you won’t come see me, I had to come find you. And it’s not nonsense – you promised me before.”
“James, I have a surprise for you today. You’ll love it.”
I picked up the proposal and stood. “If Mr. Lawson is busy, we can discuss this another day.”
Sophie shot me a look of disgust. “Of course he’s busy, and you’re in the way.”
James quickly stopped her, looking nervous and apologetic. “Sorry, just give me a few minutes.”
