Vanessa looked at Owen, her eyes soft and affectionate

Then, he turned to me. “Will you come back to me, Audrey? If you can’t bear her, I’ll ensure she’s gone, whether from this city or the entire world. You won’t ever have to see her again.”
His gaze was soft and yearning as it lingered on me, but it turned cold with contempt when it landed on
Vanessa.
I would have been overjoyed by that once, convinced it meant he cared for me. But now, all I felt was a hollow sense of disinterest.

I shook my head, saying, “I won’t get a divorce or reconcile with you, Owen. Let go of these foolish hopes.”
