I followed the police to the station.
As soon as I arrived, I spotted Aaron and Rachel standing at the entrance. Rachel suddenly rushed up to me and slapped me hard on the face.
I couldn’t react in time, so I didn’t manage to avoid it.
The police immediately pulled Rachel away. She continued screaming at me, “Katrina, it’s fine if you did this to me because I deserved it, but how could you ruin Aaron’s dreams and steal his money?”
I glanced at the hand she used to slap me. It was still bandaged up. I figured that this must be the wrist that she supposedly slit. She was still pretty strong, no?
Aaron pulled Rachel into his arms. He looked at her fondly and pitifully. However, when he looked up at me, his eyes were full of disappointment.
“Katrina Sanders, you’ve thoroughly disappointed me. Even if we weren’t married anymore, I would still have wished the best for you. I didn’t even mind giving you the money.
“I was the one who let you down first. You ruined my dream, but it’s fine. However, you should never have ruined Rachel.”
Rachel looked touched, staring at Aaron with her eyes full of emotion.
He then continued running his fingers through her hair to comfort her while blowing lightly on the hand that she used to slap me.
They looked like a couple who were deeply in love with each other, while I was the mistress who ruined their relationship.
My face was still burning from the slap, but I bore with it. I looked at Aaron and said, “Aaron Tomlinson, I did not film or post any of those videos. I did not cause your company to fail to get listed.
“You should go and do a thorough check on your assistant instead. You can still salvage things if you go back now. Otherwise, you’ll lose the whole company altogether.”
I said all I had to say. I hoped that Aaron would come to the realization himself.
Rachel had insisted on bringing him here because she wanted Aaron, the only person who could stabilize the company now, to be missing when everyone would be looking for him
I had used my contacts to investigate Rachel for the past few days. She had interned at our rival company before.
Aaron’s face turned ashen at my words.
