I couldn’t be bothered with Aaron anymore. I just let Mom’s relatives keep him out. He was allowed to step foot inside the funeral parlor.
After the funeral, I walked out of the crematorium with Mom’s ashes.
I saw a figure rushing toward me. Upon closer look, I noticed that it was Rachel.
Knowing what she’d done to me and what she was capable of, I naturally had my guard up against her. Just as she was about to fling herself at me, I sidestepped neatly and avoided her.
Rachel had been running too quickly and couldn’t stop in time. She ended up tripping herself. She also wasn’t able to withdraw the knife she’d just drawn, and the blade cut her deeply on the face.
At once, Rachel’s face began to bleed. She was in so much pain that she screamed for her parents.
Uncle Patrick walked up to her, but he didn’t offer to help her up. Instead, he looked at her coldly and said, “I do not have a daughter like you. It’s good that your face is ruined now–you’d only use it for bad things anyway.
“There isn’t an ounce of substance in your brain or your guts. You’re not like any of us. You shouldn’t even share our last name!”
Meanwhile, Aunt Florence seemed to have softened up a little. Nonetheless, she still gritted her teeth and said, “We are the ones who did wrong to Katrina and her family. It’s good that your face is ruined now. You’ve paid back for all the sins you’ve done.
“I bet Diana would have wanted this to happen to you. She avenged herself in the end. If you hadn’t sent photos of Katrina at the station to everyone, your Aunt Diana would never have had that heart attack. This is your karma. You deserved it.”
Rachel nursed her bleeding face and looked at Aaron anxiously as she sobbed.
“Aaron, please, save me… Send me to the hospital, please? We’ve been together for so long. Save me…
“I carried your baby for a few months! I know I miscarried, but I still did so much for you!”
Aaron looked at Rachel on the ground and said expressionlessly, “While you were busy framing Katrina, I hired a private investigator to look into your background.
“You’re a business spy sent by my rival to spy on me. You were the one who stole my first design and sold it overseas when I wanted to get my company listed.
“Also, that baby you miscarried was not mine. I had a DNA test done on it. It belonged to that same bastard at that rival company. You thought of bearing his child because you wanted to move overseas, so this was your way of getting your green card.
“You just never thought that he was also a married man who found out about you and forced you to take abortion pills. You then thought of going through with the abortion and framing Katrina for it.
“You’re the most evil, most wicked woman I’ve ever come across. I’ve already reported you to the police. You’re going to face a lifetime in jail for everything you did!”
