No Coming Back
Scarlett’s POV:
When Lily finally regained consciousness, her hand immediately went to her stomach. Relief flooded her face when she felt the babies were still there.
That relief wouldn’t last long
“Miss Lily,” Jack approached her bed carefully. “I’ve made arrangements with the United Council of Wolves hospital. We can leave whenever you’re ready
“Leave?” Lily looked confused. “What for?”
I watched Jack shift uncomfortably. “For the… procedure.”
“What procedure?” Her voice rose with panic. “What are you talking about?”
“The termination,” Jack said quietly. “Alpha’s orders.
The color drained from Lily’s face. She turned to Lucian, who stood by the window, his back to her.
“No,” she whispered. “You can’t. These are your babies!”
“They’re nothing to me,” Lucian’s voice was ice. “Just like you’re nothing to me.”
Lily tried to get out of bed, her legs shaking. “Please, Lucian. Don’t do this!”
She collapsed to her knees, crawling toward him. “I’ll do anything. I’ll leave the pack, raise them somewhere else. Just please don’t kill them!”
Through our bond, I felt Lucian’s heart harden. “My Lona died because you irritated her with your pregnancy. You really think I’d let those cubs live?”
“That’s not fair!” Lily sobbed. “I didn’t know she was sick! I didn’t mean to-”
“To what?” Lucian finally turned to face her. “To flaunt your fertility in front of my dying mate? To parade around carrying the proof of my betrayal?”
“I love you!” Lily screamed. “These babies are our future!”
“Don’t say you love me in front of me again, I feel dirty. What Scarlett gave me is the real ugh.” Lucian said with a cruel smile.
“Guards,” Lucian called coldly. Two pack warriors entered immediately. “Take her to the car.”
Lily tried to run, but the guards caught her easily. They held her gently, clearly afraid of hurting the pregnant woman.
“No!” she thrashed between them. “You can’t do this! I won’t let you kill our babies!”
Lucian’s Alpha power filled the room, pressing down on Lily until she couldn’t move.
“They’re not our babies,” he said quietly. “They’re the product of my greatest mistake. Now take her away.“!

No Coming Back
I watched with dark satisfaction as they dragged Lily out, her screams echoing down the hospital
corridor.
The moment she was gone, Lucian pulled out his phone. His fingers trembled as he tried to mind–link
with me.
Nothing.
He dialed my number next. Straight to voicemail.
Text after text went unanswered. Each attempt more desperate than the last.
“Scarlett, please…”
“Answer me, my love…”
“Just let me know you’re alive…”
Finally, he borrowed a nurse’s phone, dialing my number again. This time, it rang.
Hope blazed through our bond as someone picked up.
“Scarlett?” his voice cracked.
“Wrong.” Sarah’s cold voice came through the speaker “She set up call forwarding to my phone before she died.”
“No,” Lucian’s legs gave out. “She can’t be Where is she, Sarah? Please, I need to find her!”
“Why?” Sarah’s laugh was bitter. “So you can pretend to care now that she’s gone? You had five years to care, Lucian. Five years to be faithful. Five years to notice she was dying.
“I’ve gotten rid of the cubs,” he said desperately. “Tell her they’re gone. Tell her she doesn’t have to be hurt by them anymore.”
“Are you really this stupid?” Sarah’s voice dripped with contempt. “She’s dead, Lucian. Gone. No. amount of killing innocent babies will bring her back.
The line went dead.
Lucian collapsed to his knees in the middle of the hospital room.
“Lottie,” he whispered, using the nickname from our childhood. “Their babies hurt you, so I got rid of them. Please come back to me.”
I drifted above him, watching his breakdown with cold amusement. Did he really think destroying his cubs would be enough? Did he think anything could make up for his betrayal?
Soon, the third letter would arrive. Then he’d understand just how completely he’d destroyed us both.
His pain was satisfying, but it wasn’t enough. Not nearly enough.
My spirit form floated closer as he buried his face in his hands, shoulders shaking with sobs.
“I’ll do anything.” he pleaded to the empty room. “Just come back to me.”

No Coming Back
But there was no coming back. Not from death, and not from betrayal like his.
I counted the hours until Sarah would deliver the next letter. Each revelation was another knife in his heart, just as I’d planned.
Let him suffer. Let him destroy everything he had with Lily. Let him feel even a fraction of the pain I’d felt watching him build a life with another woman while I died slowly.
The sun was setting outside the hospital windows, casting long shadows across Lucian’s broken form.
His punishment was just beginning, and I intended to savor every moment of it.
After all, I had all of eternity to watch him suffer now
The third letter would destroy what remained of his world. And I couldn’t wait to watch him read it.
Through our bond, I felt his desperate hope shatter as Sarah’s words sank in. The woman he loved was truly gone, and no amount of destruction or revenge could bring me back.
Good. Let that truth destroy him like his betrayal had destroyed me.
I watched as he pulled out his phone one last time, typing a message he knew I’d never read:
“I love you, Scarlett. I’m sorry I realized it too late.”
Too late indeed. Death had claimed me, just as his betrayal had claimed any chance of forgiveness.
The next letter would make sure he understood exactly what he’d lost – and why there was no coming back from it.
His tears meant nothing to me now. Only his suffering could begin to balance the scales of what he’d done.
The pain he’s suffering now is less than a millionth of what I’ve endured for five years.
How could I possibly make him eternally happy after died alone. And I intended to make him suffer for a very, very long time.
