The New Alpha
Scarlett’s POV:
Sarah led me toward the training grounds, where the entire pack had gathered for the council meeting The sight brought back memories – I’d spent countless hours here, watching others train while I remained trapped in my human form.
But things were different now.
‘Show them our strength,‘ Zoe whispered in my mind. Show them what we can do together.‘
As we approached, conversations died out. Wolves turned to stare, their eyes widening in recognition.
“Luna Scarlett?” The whispers spread like wildfire through the crowd. “She’s alive?”
“Isn’t she dead? I’ve seen Lucian with her crystal coffin.”
“Oh my God, this is amazing too, it can’t be a ghost we re seeing.
Beta Nathan stood at the center of the grounds, directing the proceedings. When he saw me, his eyes filled with tears.
“Luna!” He rushed forward, almost stumbling in his haste. “You’ve come back to us!”
Looking at his earnest face, I felt a wave of nostalgia.I still remember the scene of our first meeting many years ago – that year I was only 12 years old, and he was just a dying wolf cub, his mother was a stray wolf, she died on the roadside, and he was nestled in her embrace.
I brought him back and cared for him myself until he recovered his health.
Now he stood before me as Beta, tall and proud. At least something good had come from my time as Luna.
“Not Luna anymore,” I corrected him gently. “I’m here to compete for Alpha.”
Nathan’s eyes widened. “Alpha? But…” He glanced at my seemingly fragile form. “The competition will be fierce. Three Alpha wolves have already entered.”
“Good,” I smiled. “I’d hate for it to be too easy.”
In the center of the training ground, three massive males were warming up. Their muscles rippled with power as they sized each other up.
The first was Kane, a battle–scarred veteran who’d served as a warrior for twenty years. The second was Marcus, younger but known for his savage fighting style. The third was Dominic, who’d transferred from another pack specifically to compete.
All three turned to stare as Nathan announced my intention to compete.
“The former Luna?” Kane laughed incredulously. “This is a joke, right?“.
“I won’t fight a woman,” Marcus declared. “It would be dishonorable.”
Dominic just sneered. “Go back to arranging flowers, little girl. This is wolf business.”

Through our bond, I felt Zoe’s dark amusement. ‘Shall we educate them?”
Without warning, I let my power surge. The transformation was effortless now nothing like the painful shifting I’d watched others endure.
My white fur gleamed in the morning sun as I took my wolf form. Gasps rippled through the crowd as they felt the Alpha power radiating from me.
“By the Moon Goddess,” someone whispered. “Her wolf is massive!”
I was easily as large as the male competitors, my muscles just as defined. But there was something more
an otherworldly grace to my movements that spoke of power beyond mere physical strength.
“Still think this is a joke?” I asked Kane, my wolf voice carrying across the grounds.
The veteran warrior had the grace to look uncomfortable. “I apologize for my disrespect. But the competition rules say we fight until submission. I won’t hold back.”
‘Good,” I bared my fangs in what might have been a smile. “Neither will L”
Nathan called us to our starting positions. “The rules are simple – last wolf standing becomes Alpha. No killing blows, but everything else is permitted.”
The three males spread out around me, clearly planning to attack together. They thought their superior numbers would overwhelm me.

Kane attacked first, lunging for my throat with decades of experience behind his move. But I was already gone, moving with impossible speed.
My counter–strike caught him completely off guard. One moment he was attacking, the next he was flying through the air to crash into Marcus.
Dominic tried to take advantage of my supposed distraction, coming at me from behind. I didn’t even bother turning around. My back leg caught him in the chest, sending him sprawling.

“Is that all?” I asked as the three males struggled to their feet.
They attacked together this time, coordination born of desperation. But they were fighting like normal wolves – all physical strength and learned technique.
I had something else. Something ancient and powerful flowing through my veins.
My movements were liquid grace as I danced between them. Each strike was precisely calculated, designed to demonstrate my absolute superiority.
Kane went down first, my teeth at his throat forcing his submission. Marcus followed moments later, thrown into submission by a display of strength that left the crowd muttering in awe.
Dominic lasted longest, his pride keeping him on his feet even after I’d broken through his defenses multiple times. But eventually, he too lay submitting at my feet.
The entire fight had lasted less than five minutes.

“I require your submission.” I used the power of the alpha to let my voice reach across the pack. Silence fell over the training grounds as I shifted back to human form. Even Nathan seemed stunned by the display of power.
Then one by one, the wolves began to kneel. First Sarah, her face glowing with pride. Then Nathan, tears of joy still in his eyes. The defeated competitors followed, their previous arrogance replaced by genuine respect.
Soon the entire pack was kneeling before me, their new Alpha.
“Rise,” I commanded, feeling Zoe’s satisfaction at our victory. “We have much work to do to restore this pack to its former glory.”
But before anyone could move, a commotion at the entrance caught everyone’s attention.
Lucian stood there, his face a mask of shock as he took in the scene before him – his former pack kneeling to his former mate.
‘Perfect timing,‘ Zoe purred in my mind. ‘Now he can watch as we take everything from him.‘
