Chapter 7
Nelson stood frozen on the stage his face ashen. Beside him, Olivia looked utterly panicked while the woman next to her covered her mouth in shock.
In the video, Olivia’s friend teased her, “Why are you even cheating with him? What’s the deal?”
“Obviously, it’s for his money. Why else? If Edmund weren’t always away, I wouldn’t have bothered! Anyway, let’s hit the male escort club tonight. I just got some cash from Nelson, and I’m ready to splurge on the hottest guy there!”
“Absolutely! You deserve some fun after putting up with Nelson.”
The woman on the stage, clearly the friend in the video, bolted from the room in a panic.
It was clear that the one chatting with Olivia in the video was, in fact, her.
Nelson turned on Olivia in fury.
“Is this true? You’ve been using my money for this? You’ve been playing me for a fool?”
Olivia backed away, shaking her head.
“Darling, let me explain…
The guests below jeered.
“He’s just now figuring it out!”
“You both are shameless!”
“This is hilarious. He had it coming!”
Nelson, humiliated and furious, pointed at the crowd.
“Shut up, all of you!”
But no one listened. A few guests stood up and stormed out, muttering loudly.
“What a disgusting party. I regret coming!”
“If I’d known, I’d have stayed home.”
Nelson, seething, grabbed Olivia’s arm.
“Explain yourself! What do you take me for?“>
Rosina rushed to intervene, pulling them apart.
“Nelson, calm down! Think about the baby!”
She clearly meant for Nelson to forgive Olivia for the child’s sake.
But Nelson snapped. He lunged at Olivia, trying to grab the baby from her arms.
“Give me the baby!”
“No! What are you doing?” Olivia screamed, clutching the child tightly.
Rosina wedged herself between them, pleading for peace, but the struggle only grew more chaotic. The rest of the people on stage quickly stepped aside to avoid getting caught up in the chaos.
In the confusion, Rosina lost her balance and fell. She landed on one of the stage’s spotlight fixtures, the bulb shattering and embedding into
her flesh.
Her backside was bleeding, and she let out a horrific scream.
“Aaahh!”
Nelson and Olivia were still struggling over the child. Olivia, unsteady in her high heels, stumbled, and the baby slipped from her grasp.
“Ahhh!” Olivia shrieked in horror.
Nelson dove to catch the child but was just a fraction too late.
The baby hit the ground headfirst with a sickening thud. Nelson crashed into a banquet table, sending plates and glasses flying.
The table toppled over, and he fell hard. He couldn’t even move, lying in a mess.
Olivia, disheveled and wailing, crawled to her child.
“My baby! My baby!”
Among the guests, there were many of their relatives. They rushed to pull them apart and check on everyone. Olivia clutched the child and wailed inconsolably.
Amidst the commotion, someone called the police while another dialed for an ambulance. The room erupted in chaos.
I adjusted my sunglasses and was ready to leave when a group of uniformed officers entered the hall,
One of them called out loudly, “Who here is Nelson? And Olivia?”
Nelson, still dazed and clutching his waist, raised a trembling hand.
“I’m Nelson…”
“And Olivia?”
A woman pointed to Olivia, who was still cradling the baby and sobbing.
The officer produced an official summons and announced sternly,
“You are both under investigation for criminal offenses. You are hereby required to come with us.”
The two stood in stunned silence as they were escorted out.

I couldn’t help but admire Edmund’s means.
A month earlier, after finally reaching him, I had explained everything. He’d assured me he’d handle it.
When he handed me the surveillance footage from his home, I’d thought he only wanted to embarrass Nelson and Olivia publicly. I hadn’t expected him to involve the authorities as well.
