There were many police officers around, but none of them stepped forward to offer comfort. After all, they had all seen how irrationally my mother was behaving just now. Some even began discussing the case openly, suspecting whether Angel was the murderer.
My mother glared at them with pure malice upon hearing their analysis.
“You were driven to suicide, but I won’t let them forget you!”
Then, she cried as she typed out a lengthy post. She claimed that the police had defamed Angel as the murderer while the real killer, Melissa, was still roaming outside. Her words reflected how devastated a mother was as her daughter had been wrongly driven to her death.
I could only look at her sadly.
I knew my mother, who was calm and capable, had lost all rational thinking from her grief.
Since she had captured the media’s attention, people began gathering by the river. Many of them were angry at the police and were holding signs as they demanded my death.
The scene was getting out of control until a call came from Officer John.
“Elina, please stop this madness! Something’s happened to your daughter!”
An invisible hand clenched my nerves tight.

mother was about to learn that I had been the one who died.
cars streamed down my mother’s face as she said, “Tell me. No matter if Angel is alive or dead, I can handle it.”
“The blood comparison results are in,” Officer John said. “The one who died is indeed Melissa.” “Melissa?” My mother froze. Then, she barked out a laugh. ‘Are you messing with me? Won’t I, of all people, know whether she’s dead? I’m asking about Angel!”
I could do nothing but smile bitterly as coldness filled my heart.
Even now, she refused to believe the truth. It was as though Angel had cast a spell on her.
However, all she needed was a small piece of truth, and she would learn that Angel was the one who killed me.
Officer John sighed. “We have an update on Angel as well. The DNA on the knife didn’t match hers. It’s been confirmed she isn’t the murderer…”
