“They’re clearly just friends! But she’s losing it and twisting everything around. She even tried to hurt someone on purpose. Call the police, Dr. Sutton! People like her shouldn’t be out here. She’s a threat!”
“Yeah, lock her up! Who knows how many other people she Il hurt if she’s allowed to stay free?”
Vera stood there like she’d already won, her arm linked with Julian’s. The way they looked at each other made it hard to believe that they were “just friends“, but the crowd had already made up their minds.
Even if Vera and Julian crossed every line right before everyone, the duo would still come out smelling like roses. She comforted him in a gentle tone.
A few people even went up to congratulate them, saying that they were perfect for each other while calling me a killer who deserved to rot in prison. Some even asked for selfies, autographs, or to be invited to their wedding.
Vera practically glowed with happiness, and Julian didn’t even deny it. So this was his idea of “nothing’s going on “between them. He was still married to me but already had his arm around another woman.
I forced myself to take a few steps toward them. The crowd around us backed off like they were afraid that my killer” vibe might rub off on them. Julian looked at me with disgust.

My words set Julian off. He was about to strike me again, but Vera stepped in to stop him. Her soft gaze swept over the crowd, silently reminding him to maintain his upright image.
Julian finally calmed down. With the papers in hand, he stormed into the courthouse without even sparing me a glance.
The staff at the office recognized him as we went through the divorce process. Their eyes shifted to me, full of judgment and contempt, like I was the one standing between him and his happiness with Vera. To them, I was the villain.
They worked fast, and as soon as we were done, Julian made a call to the hospital, asking for all the details about my miscarriage.

Even now, he still thought that I’d gotten an abortion and used the baby to manipulate him into coming back to me. A wave of bitter contempt hit me as I heard his words.
Without sparing him another glance, I turned and left the courthouse. But just as I reached the steps outside, Vera appeared before me.
