I quickly told the policemen everything–about the car accident, how Julian and Vera had acted, all the lies they spread, and the violence they’d thrown at me.
When Vera heard my accusations, she started crying right away. “Officer, don’t listen to her. She was just jealous of Jules and me, so she intentionally grabbed the wheel. That’s what caused the crash. Now she’s trying to pin everything on us.”
Julian jumped in, saying, “She’s been unstable from the start. She definitely did this on purpose. Don’t believe anything this lunatic says! If she could hurt her own kid, she wouldn’t hesitate to hurt Vera, who’s basically a stranger to her!”
Their back–and–forth just made me even angrier. “Do you really think you can twist the truth? The dashcam footage is going to tell the whole story.”
Vera’s face went white. She had clearly forgotten about that
After hearing me out, the police officer said solemnly, “Alright. If there’s dashcam footage, we’ll use it to figure out what really happened.”
The policemen took us all down to the station for questioning. When they reviewed the dashcam footage, their faces went grim. The video clearly showed Vera grabbing the wheel out of nowhere. It also caught Julian being cold and cruel toward me after the crash.
But Vera wouldn’t stop defending herself. “She must’ve edited the video! She’s trying to set me up. You’ve got to believe me, Jules. I didn’t mean to grab the wheel. There was a car coming right at us, so I swerved to avoid it—”

I couldn’t help but scoff at how self–righteous she was acting. “Do you really think that your lies are going to hold up forever? I have medical records showing that I was injured in the crash and lost my baby, and you and Julian refused to help. So, are you saying that’s part of my plan to frame‘ you, too?”
Julian went quiet for a long while, shocked by the truth behind the crash.
I thought that he was finally seeing Vera’s true nature. Instead, he said, “Look, even if Vera swerved, she didn’t
mean to hurt you. She already explained that a car came out of nowhere in the other lane.
“And honestly, it’s on you for not calling me for help, which ended up causing the baby’s death.”
