“What else would I do?” I replied coldly. “I think I made myself pretty clear a few days ago.”
“I’m telling you, if you run away, I’ll send all the animals you’ve adopted to the slaughterhouse!”
I felt a mix of anger and amusement.
This guy was threatening me without even understanding the situation.
“Well, you’ll be disappointed to know that they’re all in Argania now.”
“What!” Justin yelled.
Then he took a breath and softened his approach.
“I know I was wrong last time, and I sincerely apologize. I wasn’t doing it on purpose. There was an emergency. I’ll make it up to you. You wanted an expensive ring, right?‘ll buy it for you, just don’t make a scene.”
“So Alice bruising her leg counts as an emergency for you? Why do you, the young heir of your family, insist on chasing after a common person like me?
“Is it because you love me? No, it’s because I look like your precious Alice. The Hunts want to ally with the Langleys so you’re just finding someone who looks like Alice to comfort yourself.”
A long silence followed.
Just as I was about to hang up, I heard his voice again, less confident than before.
“You’ve figured it out, haven’t you? At first, it was because you looked like Alice, but after spending time with you, I realized you’re different.
“Plus, you love me. Please forgive me this time, I want you to love me… no, let’s love each other mutually.” After more than three years of being together, Justin had never said anything remotely romantic like that.
I used to blame him for being unromantic, even throwing tantrums because of that.
Eventually, I accepted that he was a typical alpha guy and stopped stressing over it.
Now, hearing those words from him, my heart skipped a beat.
“The plane is about to take off. Please switch your phone to flight mode,” the flight attendant gently reminded me, pulling me out of my daze.
“It’s too late. We’re done. I’m heading to Arcania. Goodbye
Then, I ended the call and switched off my phone.
Whatever he felt no longer mattered to me.
